Snowboarding the STEEPEST Ski Run in North America - (Season 6, Day 108)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 бер 2022
- I always heard how good Crested Butte was but even with all the expectations Crested Butte blew my mind! This ski resort is amazing in so many ways and being able to snowboard the steepest ski run in north America was just the cherry on top of an insane day!

Rambo is sick. Just so you know Rambo is the steepest cut(meaning that the trees on that slope were cut to create the trail) ski trail in North America. There are plenty of other shots at Crested Butte that are steeper than Rambo.
Best overall mountain in all of Colorado IMO. Steep runs. Wide open groomers. Cliff drops. No lift lines. Amazing terrain parks. Soft snow. It’s got everything
IMO?
@@boaztech in my opinion
I agree. Much prefer it to any summit county resort even though it’s not as big
@@TheRyansLion I went on a weekend and there were no lines for CB. Just straight onto the lifts. And the town of CB is super cool
Naw parks are wack. Impossible to lap you have to take a super long lift to get barely any park in. The beginner park is a joke where it’s located have to take a super long lift that barely moves. Only way to hit that is hiking
That run would be absolutely insane with a couple feet of pow
Right!
Trust me from experience, a couple feet of pow makes Rambo a death sentence
I got rope drop on Rambo this year it was amazing
@@grahamwhitehead9592 yea im guessing turning would be sketch. Definitely gotta be good at back country if you wanna attempt that.
@@grahamwhitehead9592 Darn, why is that? Easier to tumble or the inconsistent snow is trickier?
Flying?? No, this is falling in style!!!
🤣😂
Man! I used to go to this mountain every spring break when I was a kid. I havent been in over 10 years, but I remember every run on this mountain. I need to go back next season. Great video, I had no idea they had the steepest run in NA. I dont think I would have hit it in these conditions!
Great video! My girlfriend and I skied Crested Butte for the first time a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. The only downside is that we picked the busiest weekend for spring breakers - it looked a lot emptier for you. And Rambo is a challenge for sure - I like how you snuck the rocks at the top by taking the trees on the right.
Ahhh those views!! Amazing boarding - those runs looked INSANE!
Looks like you had a sneak half an inch day. Sometimes those days can be a lot of fun! Hyped you hit CB. An awesome mountain
Such a sick place!! The views are insane !! Keep up the shred !! YEWWWWWW !! Keep Evolving !! Steepest run looked way gnarley , charged it and made it down , the whole squad, woot woot !!
The steepest I’ve done is the “Swiss Wall” from Morzine into Switzerland. Day 1 was whiteout & moguls but day 2 was bluebird & fresh pow - so much fun
swiss wall is lit everything in avoriaz is really good
Awesome Video. I was there in Feb and had WAAAAYYYYYY too much fun. Rambo is a tough but amazing one!
Wow! What a run. Y'all got mad skillz on those boards. I can't even imagine how this could be done on skis.
You can do it on skis just like he did -- by sliding sideways.
Thaks!
Rambo is sick. Just so you know Rambo is the steepest cut(meaning that the trees on that slope were cut to create the trail) ski trail in North America. There are plenty of other shots at Crested Butte that are steeper than Rambo.
Looks so gnarly!! When I went to CB the top wasn't open so I want to get back out and ride that stuff
Great footage! Crested Butte is the most underrated steep and deep resort in North America.
Keep it that way!
Sick! Im so sad I missed you by 2 days. I skied Rambo twice, perfect the first time, then slid face first down the whole thing after hitting a hidden rock! Wish I had a video of it for you to react to!
I just started to watch your channel super dope channel and content looking forward to watching more definitely learning and im gonna be taking some tips from you sure do know how to shred!
new snowboarder here(recently switched from skiing), the first thing i noticed was it felt easier to hit steeps but holy crap rambo was absolutely insane, those jump turns kinda blew my mind cuz i’ve never seen anything like that. sick vid bro🤙 (also your channel played a bit of a role in convincing me to try snowboarding, keep doing what you do man’
Steeps are harder on snowboards and easier on skis
Welcome to the team bro! All respect for skiers too 👌🏼
@@averagejojofan8649 absolutely not the case. Intermediate snowboarders get down the steepest terrain way before they're competent to because they just heel slide it down. On skis, at some point, you have to turn and be pointing downhill. not the case on a snowboard.
@@tristancleary I meant skiing them well. Skiers can side step down stuff too
@@averagejojofan8649 sure, they can. But side slipping is harder than heel slipping. You have two skis wanting to go different directions. They're longer and more prone to get caught on rocks etc. And unless you're reasonably advanced, you'll naturally slide slightly forwards when side slipping, so eventually you'll be forced to turn or ski backwards (which inexperienced people will not be able to do well). There is a reason you see WAY more inexperienced snowboarders in terrain above their skill level than skiers. It's just harder to get out.
Skiing is the easier sport for the first morning of learning. Once you get past that initial morning, snowboarding is far far easier. I've done and taught both.
I was just there 3/24/22-3/28/22 sucks we missed you man, love the videos man keep up the great work and shred that gnar gnar brotha
Looks like pretty decent conditions... gotta rely on those jump turns... but at the same time, "Damn snowboarders scuffin' all the pow off the run."
Just skied chute 1 at steamboat today in about 7 inches of powder that must have been so tough with those conditions
Crested Butte is a unique place for sure! 👍
Skied CB in 1979, one of my all time favorites.
No freaking way. I’m going to Crested Butte for my birthday in February. It’s my fist time ever in Colorado and I’m so pumped! Been a dream of mine since I was 14. Kentucky’s snow is becoming underwhelming..
Crested butte peak season is gonna be a blast. Best resort I’ve been to.
Snowboarders be lookin at runs like "why is there no coverage" 😂
right LOL
I just did the lake chutes on Thursday. Super steep but fun
That run was nuts, so much stuff in the way too. We have the wall at Holiday Valley near me and it is only 38 degrees. It is terrifying enough for me, granted it's usually ice.
The wall is barely 30 degrees steep
That’s where I go
Insane looking resort… tackled that run like an absolute champ too. I felt pretty good about riding out Wingles Wiggle at Timberline last year lol… short little ~30 deg grade.
I wouldn't call this snowboarding the steepest run I would call it scraping the steepest run of any remaining snow there was lol
Just catching up on your videos! Sick video as usual. Such a fun day!
Thanks bro
Ive ridden some steep trails but damn is THAT intimidating !
I'm a really good snowboarder but still wouldn't ride that because it's extremely dangerous but respect to you guys and thank you for letting us witnessing it.
I did the Swiss wall and it was such a rush, very steep but so much adrenaline
That edit towards the end was one of the best I’ve seen
Thanks man 🙏🏼
CB has some really steep stuff. Pretty chill town too. Definitely recommend the Secret Stash.
Not chill anymore filled with texans
Secret stash is awesome
Such a good video omg
I remeber skiing rambo years ago, good times and smooth turns
That’s so awesome 😂
When I was going to school in Gunni, I rode up to that run hearing all about it. Looked down and said "Hell no. Bye" and rode off. Big balls.
Also, CB the best resort I have ever been to.
That’s awesome 😅
That was so sick
Tried snowboarding one time, got drug on a run that was way to gnarly and ditched 😂 miserable first experience but I’m half tempted to give it another go seeing as I live right around the corner from blue mountain ski area
Did "La Charlevoix" at Le Massif last weekend, and while it's not quite as steep, it definitely is really steep, and waaaay longer than Rambo! I was simply exhausted at the bottom. It's labeled as a triple-diamond on the mountain, and there's a "experts only" sign at the entrance.
I could do expert only runs when I was 11
@@Mtb_5670 I did my first double when I was at 11 at Loveland. After that I did another really steep double there
You know it’s really steep when you can see the steepness of it from a GoPro 😂
No joke 😂
My wife learned to snowboard on that mountain and she's been wanting to take me there for years. If/when i make it i will make sure to give Rambo a try. Looks pretty intense!
Johnathan you should totally do a wake board collab with @JB O’Neil during the summer!! That would be so sick
I am glad you went down Rambo for me.😆 I am not doing that!
Rambo looks so wild!!!
we have steeper at Whistler, a few actually
Damn that looks like fun, and with pow, that would be an escalator down. I want that. On the bucket list. Thanks
Dude with pow would be a dream
Love the vid keep up the grind
Will do!
Thank you
Hell yeah I was wondering when you'd come to CB..been living out here since 2015 lift opin every season not so much of a hidden gem anymore lol
And Rambo was one of the hardest runs I’ve ever done mainly because of all the rocks and trees
I’ve been skiing crusted buete for 11 years my fav mount
I love how he fell over, this just tells you even if your a new its ok to fall because even pros like him fall over.
Gotta take Rambo off the top next time ;) Tree entrance always good tho bro
When I was younger I never made it up. I couldn’t stay on the t bar. lol
I get that
that did look super gnarly! personally i think that runs like those aren’t as fun as something super long and flat that u can just shred. not sayin i wouldn’t do it tho 😫
Go to Whistler in BC!!! Also sick video!!!! Love it!!
Hey u coming to NH next year. There’s a bunch of sick resorts.
That day was definitely gnarly! I got windburn because I didn’t bring a mask
Lee Canyon outside of Las Vegas has a very similar run!
I went during the huge storm in 18/19 season in March, it snowed 33 inches in 3 days! I avalanche danger was black! But Rambo was still open, it is absolutely steep! It still had rocks still expose🤯
Crested butte is in my top 3 favorite resorts in Colorado, Some of the steepest terrain!
Shoutout the creek!!
Yo I’m up there right now! It’s got some sick runs
Nice! I grew up skiing the butte skied Rambo with ski patrollers “pistol” Pete Gibbons and Monty in 1995 on my 1972 K2 220 dh boards to get into the Patrol school. The hi lift and the north face lift ruined all the good skiing at cb.
I would love to have seen a helmet cam footage of this. then we can start to see your thought processes of how you are going over the terrain and where to go next. just a thought....
hit a double black diamond last season that was nearly all ice. lost my edge and slid at least 100 ft on my ass with no ability to stop until thankfully i hit powder
Come to steamboat and hike like 100 yards to no names and go a little right and it is the steepest run I have ever done
no names isint that bad, its steep but i did a few weeks ago and its not that bad, im also 12
Made it look somewhat easy! Nice job 👌
Thanks 🙏🏼
It’s falling with style
Sheeeeesh. I mean, steeeeeep! Wow
Right!
Come to Whistler Canada one day and ride the steepest run its insane
It is 100% going to happen!
Sideslip it!!!🤫🤭😳
8:54 you can see the steepness
You should try rumor at gore mountain. 70% pitch!!!
That’s an average single black in the west
Rambo is rough. But as far as coverage goes, it would be hard to find much better than last year! You picked a good time to rip it.
Stampede at northstar is 59 degrees at its steepest as well and I've groomed that run in a snowcat. I feel stampede is on the same level. Worked at northstar for 15 years so have a bit of experience
I don’t know. I thought Scott’s chute was gnarly but it’s only 38° compared to Rambo’s 55° and there ain’t know way a cat is riding up Scott’s chute.
I think palisades and the k-22 led to some even steeper runs (I think at one point they hit like 60°).
Either way, I’ll pass!:o
People always overestimate slope angle. 50 degree ski terrain is fairly hard to find, even in the backcountry, and it is typically exposed. There's no way Northstar had 59 degree ski terrain. 59% yup, 59 degrees - no.
According to fat map stampede is 36°. Fat map also says Rambo is 40° with some spots hitting 50°.
@@logantuura7503 you're correct I meant percent not degrees. Im sorry and I still stand by my statement stampede is just as steep. Its probably measured by the entire length of the run as well.
@@ivwshane fat map is just fucking wrong
we called it Rambo glades brfore they cut the trees mid 80's had to hike to get there
That’s cool!
Was just waiting to see you sick your hand on the ground as your going. They have one at whiteface too. Instead of the normal blue circle/ green square / black diamond (1,2 or 3) it just has "warning" written in black on yellow as a trail marker. Yours is steeper, but worth doing.
The steepest inbounds run in North America is the little couloir at big sky Montana.
Was Benson with you? I was legit expecting something like:
"This is the steepest gnarliest run ever so scary omgosh!"
"... and here's Benson doing a backflip into it"
It’s Benton btw lmao
Nice. Now can you bring some snow to the east coast?
I wish!
What camera are you using for this?
Fun day.
Right bro!
The Taos there is a triple black diamond that is almost vertical
I thought the steepest run in north America was at Sunlight Mt. You learn something new everyday.
W camera man
I'd ski that if there was a little more snow so there weren't little trees poking out all over. I've skied Adrenaline at Alpental which is about as steep
Ceasted butte is the bestttttttttt i love it there
Cheers for saying it didn’t have to be pretty and that it is all about survival.
yo YOU need to come to canada BC AND ALBERTA
How does it compare to the Harakiri at Mayerhofen?
Idk honestly
@@JohnathanBuckhouse You need to get over there and find out.😘
Dropping there with skiis would be so scary
Lol… “I love it being open despite it being all rock” and then he shows a fully covered trail… most out west skiing statement ever haha. That’s a powder day out here in the East. If you haven’t sharpened your edges on granite are you even skiing?
Rambo is only a 400 feet run , Whistler has a Narley Run that is 2500 feet long , Another ski mountain in British Columbia has the longest run of all ski hills in North America that is Revelstoke Mountain the Run is over 5000 feet long
I am a total coward staring at the steeps but I live through these videos.
RTS at Willamette pass is 52degrees…
Sooo Proooo 🤣🤣🤣🤣
🙌🏼
yo, amaizing video, you def snow really good. You should try come to Italy, here at Madonna di Campiglio we have a track called the direttissima, it has a 70 degree steepness. Def worth a try
Last year i was at 3 Zinnen and it has the steepest run of Italy with 72 degrees!
It was fun
Not!
😉😀
rambo you know it ski comps held on it
i have a feeling free fall at silver star mountain is steeper, shit feels like it at least more than 60 in most spots, not as long though sadly.
Crazy!
