Eric O has a first class memory and analytical mind. He can figure what is wrong before I would have started to recognize what the information staring at me was telling me. He is a master of those software diagnostic devices and he knows when to set aside one of them and try a different one. That is nearly proof of psychic phenomena.

you were having problems accelerating because the transmission will default to 3rd gear with max line pressure.

Glad to hear its all fixed. These type of faults are not so easy to figure out and getting the right help is hard to find too. Looks like you got the right guy to figure it out , I guess Scotty was too busy plus it was a sunday :)

Great video. You're lucky to have friends like Eric. Are you gonna put the predator tune back in it?
I want to see if the original problem is gone before I do anything. But since the the TCM problem is fixed and it appears the Predator wasn't the problem and I know more about the whole system I very well may. And I will have another great tech in the area here in a few days so if it gets messed up trying to put the Predator back in I will have that resource available and he LOVES to do car computer stuff!

Eric O. Is a great mechanic and a great teacher. I changed the engine on my 2010 Grand Caravan after watching 5 videos on how to do it. My engine decided it wanted to eat a piston. It was literly in about 1000 pieces in the oil pan. Con rod actually looked good but it had scored the cylinder wall in many places as it trashed around. Just changed the engine. THANKS ERIC O.

Sometimes you just have to ask another tech for some help. I do that from time to time, ask them since they have more experience then me and have seen things I haven't yet. Then I just watch them to learn and ask questions.

Well this is mike the disgruntled mechanic from Plymouth mass hailing from sleepy hollow drive... assuming thats the name of your residence- thats some ironic stuff. 03 6.0L 2500hd just hit a 1/4 mil hard ass miles today. Thanks for the post and the trial and error/ tribulations SOHK info very helpful

Question ? Have. Cts 2004 / 3.6 with no 12 voltage at #1 cylinder coil harness and replaced the coil found out later that coil has no voltage to it.

I had an older Chevy truck, it wasn't the EMC or the VCM. It was the PROM in the VCM! Didn't come with the new VCM either and I had to special order the new PROM. I thought that was odd but someone said it's pretty common with the trucks that have a VCM box under the hood.
Speaking of fuses and relays. A Grand Prix with automatic headlights fooled me once. Someone swapped the relays and it was not the same relay or put fuse or relay in wrong hole, I can't remember but I spent 4 hours on the junk before I found it.
Don't know what that shop charged the customer, and I just knew I only had enough hours to make $300. I had plan on quitting. Got paid late and dude handed me 9 hundred dollar bills!

that was super nice of Eric O to make a house call to help you with your PCM/ECM issues. but yeah Federal and CARB have different code programming on their system. I have LB7 Turbo Diesel. (2004) since I put tuner on it. wrong programming, oops. had to be reflashed to Federal. So I could load the tuner on it. As my truck was CARB truck. ugh. glad you got that sorted.
Me too! And the coincident with the way it happened with the fuse and doing tuner was just interesting to say the least. So do I try putting the tuner back in since it doesn't appear it caused any problems? I will make sure 1st I figure out if I have the original problem fixed 1st then maybe put the tune back in?
The Disgruntled Mechanic maybe. I took it to professional tuner who knows this sort of thing. I know some. But I didn't want to risk any issues with it. tuner took care of that. It was bit beyond my knowledge on tuner stuff. I wanted to learn so much how's tuner programming and installation. But that didn't happen :(
Well now a know a bit more about it I may try it.

I desperately need someone like South Main Auto to help me out. I have the identical truck here a 2002 LB7 Duramax, no com to the ECM or TCM and ECM B FUSE continues to blow. And I do not have any snow plow or any after market tuner connected. Uhhggg
I loved washing Eric the car guy's videos......But hands down SMA Eric is very very good and understands cars very well.. ..I would work for free under him just so I can learn everything he wants to teach me

Great mechanic indeed. I like my think. But bought because of cost and mine was just the module. Definitely does most of what I need to do.

Two kinds of repairs nowadays, broken bones and brain damage. Broken bones are pretty easy to spot, but just like humans brain damage can be hard to track down.
