This is the most realistic pattern I've seen on UA-cam. I made something years ago with discrete logic chips and decade counters which did exactly the same thing, but used over an amp of power. I think I may look into a microprocessor and connect it via an output stage to incandescents.

Hi , in the code you see when you pause the video at 2:34 , does the last line of your first for loop really do anything to how we see the LEDS blinking ? ( last line of the first for loop ) because right after (i+1) led is set to low, the loop starts over with the new 'i' which is actually ( i+1) and sets the same LED to high again ??

@WannaDIY Dude this is by my experience, You can use this red LEDs without resistors. I have been doing this for more than 5 years without any harm. So please don't be a THEORY ONLY guy!!!

Hmmm, I think I will try to use this for a Moebius/Revell 1/6 scale Cylon Centurion. I have to admit that I haven't bothered with circuits since school and that was a long time ago.
Will it work with 12 SMD LEDs 0402 (red, pre-wired)? They have to be glued to a v-shaped board to fit behind the visor. I also will add some kind of diffusor. What resistors will I need?

I am using Arduino for 8 years now. I have never used a resistor with LEDs. But not a single LED burnt for this 8 years. So we do not need to use a resistor with LEDs

How could you essentially do that on both sides of a bread board, cause I tried connecting LED’s on both sides and then having a wire connect each of the pins together but I ended up with some on the right side of the breadboard working and some on the other side not
In some breadboards two power rails are not connected from the middle of the bread board. So you have to connect the two sides from jumper wires
Thank you so much for responding, Im still having trouble though. I put the the ground in the positive on the right hand side that’s connected to all the LED’s, I placed the jumper wire on each input number then I took a wire and placed the it on the positive of the right end that has the ground connected to the left positive. But only the first three LED on the left turned on, while the three on the left turned off.

Trying to figure out how to wire this for a turn signal and all leds solid for brake light. Would I have to run two separate led lights? One modded like this and another with power wires wired together tied into brake wire?

Is there anyway of making this small enough to fit inside a1/18th scale diecast car?
You can use the same circuit but using an arduino micro. (but not forget the leds resistors, if you use metal film types they are smaller). The hard part is solder small smd leds or carve regular leds with a mini drill so they fit, or using small strips of plexiglas as light guides.
