  • The inks I am using here are water based ones from Lukas (made by Daler) which have recently been discontinued - I am still looking for a good replacement :( The plastic bottles are cosmetic bottles 150ml which work like ketchup bottles.

Is it just me? How does this remarkable individual not have several hundred thousand subscribers ?
You can tell a lot about a person by listening and watching them during their videos.
I have come to the conclusion that Laura Boswell is one of those rare individuals that was born to be tasked with enriching the lives of those she touches. Thank you Laura, for your ongoing generosity of knowledge you so openly share. It is appreciated ! :)

Great video, not only for classes. I find it hard to decide which colours to keep pre-mixed when I work with water based colours. This could also be a good inspiration to prepare a set of "ready-to-use" studio colours

Thanks Laura, great way to explain the different way of using colour when doing printmaking. It is very different to other ways of creating art with colour. I like the idea that you include purple, especially as you don't really like it! I must say you have a wonderful way of setting things up to make things easy for your students. Just goes to show you that your OCD in colour theory at the beginning of learning printmaking is not such a bad thing. Keep up the good work (both of you).

Hello Laura, thanks for all your videos! I have a question about water based ink, but untill now I couldn’t find the answers I need.
I bought several colors of waterbased ink for experimenting linocut. I found out, that you’re using extender for the oilbased inks. Do you also have experience with extender for waterbased inks? And can I use the extender of one branch, also for other branches? Which extender should you advise?
    Kind regards,
    Harry

Water based extender is tricky - Graphic Chemical are the only makers I know of and can recommend. If your ink washes off with water only then this extender should work with them, but get a small amount and do a tester before investing in a big tin

Thanks for an interesting video. There is a lot to ponder about colour and wastage in it for everyone in it. Especially the more timid/tasteful choices! How do you deal with explaining the difference in opacity of colours with your classes with premixes - presuming there are any ? Good luck with your workshops.

These are pretty much all the same opacity - annoyingly this brand (Lucas inks) has been discontinued
