I like this kind of legacy mechanical devices like this map with Doppler sensor, where you have to do something more than modern perfect GPS. It's just more interesting to use. Thanks
00:12 "...you can see here, that on that flight path there are very little reference points for us to navigate by..." this is a good video, and imma let you finish... but there's a railroad track that goes straight from Hama to Abu al-Duhur. You can see it on the map, and it runs right next to the Hama airport fence. You fly over it at 5:54. Just follow it north, and make a right at the junction. Its on the left side of the canopy for much of the flight.
Good video but sadly i tried your video in the Mi-24P Georgian Column Single Player Mission (from the workshop) and it sadly dosen´t work. I set the course to 112 and the distance via aft to 57km but the distance is counting upword and the right left drift is counting updword to the right even if i would fly to the left of the course. Seems a little bit buggy at least on caucasus.
@@Sithis1989 I´m not quiet that good at english technical terms. If you mean the switches at 1:08 it looks exactly like in your video. I did do the autostart so it should not be the case that i forget something. It seems like the left right drift panel correctly displays my flight distance (in the mission it was 57 km) and the distance panel is by 59 - 60km. It seems a little bit like the counters are completly switched. The distance only changed by like 2-3km and the left right drift did count the km correctly. Its a little bit crazy.
@@Sithis1989 Hahaha i´m the one who was stupid. I treated the course heading number you have to set as 3 numbers but they are 4 and i diden´t recognized it because i was just testing out. I was programming 011.2 and not 112.0 which was leading to my results. Now all works like a charm. Thanks for the video ^^
Excellent tutorial! Well laid out, easy to follow, and you covered a lot of little details like Mag Var that are often overlooked.
Thanks man, your Mi8 tutorial series is already 90% of what people need to know to fly the Hind!
this was really helpfull. been struggling with the navigation system for a while

Fantastic video tutorial!
I love the Hind but now I really LOVE the Hind.
Well done.
You've got a new sub.
Very nice tutorial - thanks
Very interesting
Very good tutorial, thanks 👍👍
Hi, I think now, we have true heading option in F10 map and menu bar
As always, great!

haha damn you got me!
Next time I am going to add: "For the purpose of this presentation..."
Wartime pilots used this method, it was called ‘Right hand left Rail’ . Especially useful in N Africa and Russia.

Have you ensured the Airspeed to DISS-15 circuit breaker is turned off?

@@TheSeb12345 That does sound like the system assumes you are turned 90° to your track. I´ll do some testing and see if I can replicate the error.
@@TheSeb12345 On the course, are you sure you input 112.0° and not 011,2°
