Ethan Work You are right. But what i say is that there are and always will be persons that won't respect you. For any good or bad reason. i think it's not important for the one it's concern. I mean if you don't respect me. nothing change for me. therefore it's not really important. Of course it says more about the person not respecting others. I can only speak for myself but I don't care much for people who doesn't respect me.
@Rowan Melton this is true man. If emos want us to leave them alone then they can’t hate on sabbath when their deathcore band would not exist without them
The only reason I can see why people hate Black Sabbath is that Ozzy Osbourne is insane Other than that I don't see a lot other than it not being their cup of tea, but "hate" I don't see it
5. Understandable 4. Listen to something besides the Paranoid album. If you hear the Never Say Die album and say it's simple you have dicks in your ears. 3. Not a valid excuse, except for Sharon. 2. I understand the logic, but if you don't like them for that you are a music snob and probably like 5 finger death punch. 1. Ok, that's fine, but it's your loss. Pretty much anybody who isn't very familiar with Vol. 4 through Never Say Die has no ground to stand on. I am a rabid Black Sabbath fan and even I am sick of the same old tracks that get radio play and get put on compilations. Their albums only get better as you go until 1978.
Judge Lazar Never Say Die is pretty simplistic actually. It's very clear that Tony was trying to emulate the popular rock bands of the time to get more sales. This could already be seen on parts of Sabotage, which was great nonetheless, and it was obvious on the next two albums, with songs like Rock 'n' Roll Doctor, A Hard Road, and It's Alright. I agree with you about their first six albums though. Paranoid is fairly complex if you listen to songs other than the title track.
Anyone who reckons Sabbath isn't Metal is fucked in the head. really get sick of people who think if it doesn't have a screamo with a guitar tuned down 12 octaves it aint metal. fact is the term has described Sabbath since it was coined in the early seventies. Defenitions don't change but if the music has, then rebrand it! Sabbath in both Ozzy and Dio eras are the closest defenition of true metal.!
I was never a huge Ozzy fan(love his solo stuff), I got my start with the Dio era and I've liked most of their albums that were made afterwards(Forbidden is meh minus a couple songs). The Tony Martin era had some of my favorite albums from the band, like The Eternal Idol and Headless Cross.
Schpida-Man Had a friend that loved the Dio and Ian Gillan albums, but hated everything with Ozzy. To each his own, but personally love all their stuff!👍
Sabbath is to important to hard rock and metal to not be respected. hell they've basically touch every heavy rock genre in some way. they weren't the only founding band of course. but paramount regardless. Ozzy alone has helped many bands of various styles become successful so his impact is still current. you don't have to like them to be a metal head but I can't really see how a metal head could hate Sabbath or Ozzy. aside from just trying to appear harder than thou.
Matt Traverso, I can give you one reason I hate RHCP. They are marxists, and I hate marxism and anything associated with it. I have never been a fan of their music, but totally refused to ever listen to them when I found out about their marxism. I have no respect for marxists, so there is that. If you like them, listen to them! To each his/her own.
Back in the 70's heavy metal was termed heavy/hard rock. That term covered bands like Kiss, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, Scorpions etc. I noticed the term heavy metal for the first time in '77, I think. For some reason one decided to rename the genre, and suddenly old bands were called heavy metal. I think heavy rockers was influenced what happened with punk, which just was a renamingof the old garage rock (Stooges, Velvet Underground, MC5) from the late 60's. Later punk was renamed again to grunge. It seems that some people need to feel they are participating in something new, but it's really old stuff with a new name, which is clear to see if you have lived for awhile. Consequently Black Sabbath is heavy metal.
Since I never saw Black Sabbath before because I'm young and they announced retirement (or that's what they want us to believe), I took every chance I got to see them this year. I ended up seeing them three times: the first at The Forum, the second at the Hollywood Bowl, and the third at the Ozzfest Meets Knotfest. Got to say, it was unbelievable. Even with the same setlist every night, all performances were very enjoyable and definitely experiences I'll never forget. The third and final time I saw them, once they finished playing and gave their farewell, I waved them goodbye and said, "Thank you boys for everything, I appreciate you all and what you have done so much." I do wish Bill Ward played with them at least a few songs.
My response to each one 5: An unsteady line-up may be annoying, but they still produced decent material during this time (mostly). 4: As a guitarist myself, Iommi is the god of the riff work. He took very basic blues patterns and added a heaping fuck ton of distortion and atmosphere... Simple, and solid as fuck. 3: Ozzy is not Sabbath... Iommi is the only consistent member, and he was always the backbone of Sabbath. 2: WHO GIVES A FUCK? Metal didn't fucking exist! Them, Zeppelin, Motörhead, etc literally started the fires that forged metal... Also, listen to neon nights and tell me that shit isn't metal. 1: You are expected to like Sabbath for the same reason that you respect your grandfather. If you are a metalhead, they are your musical elders... You don't need to listen to them like you are a cult member (like me), or you can just respect them.
if it wasn't for BLACK SABBATH i would not be into Heavy Metal, the 13 tour was my daughter's first concert, wish Bill was there but she loved it, we did it old school style, she got a concert shirt and wore it to school to show everybody she went to the concert.
Well I can make a reason 6, their fanbase says they were the first that brought the heavy metal sound. But I find quite some bands that had a particular metal sounds in 1968-70. For one that (stoner) doom metal was already done by the band firebirds/hair in the 60's. Still black sabbath had some sick tunes.
Strange, I just got a Black Sabbath vinyl from my dad for my birthday. I also got Metallica - Metallica (vinyl) and a Pink Floyd greatest hits CD. That's just today, there's more coming.
Bukkit God Tony is Black Sabbath, there are more sides to Sabbath than Ozzy. It is very much metal, especially with Dio. Plus, Sabbath made some of the heaviest albums of the 70s, they're metal.
Please don't hate me. I have absolute upmost respect and admiration for bands from the NWOBHM movement. They started what would go on to create tons and tons of sub genres. Sure other bands before guys such as Black Sabbath were doing it too, but those are the bands that are considered to be the fathers of modern metal. Having said that, I grew up on thrash, so while I respect Black Sabbath, I can't say they're my favorite. Not that they're a bad band (they are amazing) but because of my own personal taste. Please don't crucify me for this
I find it astounding that a person has to feel sorry for not liking a band I understand and respect Black Sabbath too, but people should stop trying to diminish people for not liking something
The ManPF.....I agree. I despise thrash, but if people want to listen to it more power to them! I think the only "music" I may be guilty of diminishing people over is rap/hip hop. To me, it is not music, period! It is talking over noise. So, I am guilty of it. But I will stand my ground as to what I think it is.
Reason 1- The 60s/ early 70s bands caused a major drug shortage and it wasn't until late 70s /Van Halen/Crue before you could score decent weed. Honorable mention- Bell Bottoms.
I agree 100% with you CKN on this one. Some of these make absolutely no sense. But I've not once met a person who was into metal who didn't like Sabbath, or at least didn't respect them for their contribution to the scene. We're fortunate as a genre to have some of the most knowledged fans as far as where our bands came from, and most of them, list Sabbath as their influence.
I know someone who was a fan of Black Sabbath for years, and when they found out they were metal, they decided that they weren't a fan anymore... *SIGH* I lose brain cells each time thinking about it. Talk about having a close mind.
For number two, I must say this: Nobody could have expected it, but if Black Sabbath weren't around, metal would have picked up anyway. They accelerated the destined creation of what would later become known as metal. A different name would have been known to the world just as Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, and we'd be having this exact dilemma of "who founded metal?". Fortunately, many of us can enjoy it without feeling the need to examine its very roots, which is simply impossible.
I don't understand how people can hate Sabbath. I am 24, heard Sabbath for the first time about 12 years ago when I got there greatest hits album from walmart, I knew who Ozzy was because of my cousins and dad, blew my mind, and still makes me have that hair stand up on your neck feeling.
People hate Sabbath? Okay, that's another strange one. They are arguably the pioneers of heavy metal and influenced so many bands, from Metallica to Alice in Chains.
Even so, there is some metal thrown in there. Sabbath always had that dark grungy sound that influenced AIC, even the Melvins. War Pigs and the Black Sabbath songs are the first thing I think of in terms of sounds like AIC.
Nothing wrong with a simple riff, if it sounds good its good. And for intermediate guitarists learning Black Sabbath solos make us play something really cool but playable.
Many Sabbath albums weren’t even Sabbath’s. They were Tonny’s collab albums with other musicians, but the Music Label forced him to publish them under the Black Sabbath name
I've had the pleasure to come across a cover of their song, N.I.B., that saw Primus performing it with Ozzy Osbourne on vocals... It truly is a pretty epic Black Sabbath cover. The Bass is like right there at you man! Beast.
This is getting ridiculous. I understand people hate bands like Slipknot or even Metallica, but some of the most venerable legends of heavy metal? Judas Priest? Iron Maiden? BLACK FRIGGIN' SABBATH? Proof that anything can garner a hatedom, justified or not.
It didn't matter who the line up was, Bcuz tony iommi was black sabbath and was the sound of black sabbath. The only negative thing about sabbath was that they could of played a lot more different songs during their concerts.
I always see Black sabbath as where the border line between hard rock and Metal is, I don't think it should change just because all the different Metal genres can get as heavy or technical as physically possible. Just because you've gotten used to black metal ar doom metal and all that stuff it doesn't make Sabbath not metal all of a sudden. That line never changes, just what's beyond it
Took me a long time to warm up to Dio era Sabbath, but now I think it's every bit as awesome as anything from the Ozzy era. The albums after are a bit hit-or-miss for me. Fact: Symptom of the Universe = greatest love song of all time!
Sabbath's musical catalogue is better than most! Look how many incredible tunes they have? They also came out with a different sound And are an original band! Pretty bad ass!
I'm not the biggest Black Sabbath fan but I can't believe people HATE Black Sabbath. I do think they make very simple tunes but they're still less simplistic than 99% pop music and just because they're far from the best band ever doesn't mean they're bad. Despite their simplistic songs, they write very good riffs and that's good enough.
Do 5 Reasons why People Hate Manowar. I wouldn't be to hard. I myself love Manowar but alot of people seem to have some needless or legit hate for them.
I liked Sabbath when I was a kid in the 70's to an extent, but they were so dark and depressing at least for me. There is no denying the talent and greatness of this band, but they did nothing that made me feel happy while listening to it. Yeah it had that power that all young kids get off on, but when that wears off it's just dark and sad conjuring images of horror. I always likened this form of darkened hard rock or metal to modern day horror movie music. Not my thing at all.
It boggles my mind to think people hate Black Sabbath. I'm not super into them, for whatever reason it just doesn't click with me, but to hate them? Just how?
Black Sabbath (All the lineups) and Pantera, to me. The most important bands in rock music. I can't hate anything these bands have done, I simply cannot. During my party years in my teens and 20's those bands were a given in my apartment. Evolved later with Down, SJR, Tony Martin and his projects and Bandlands and so on. Can't really hate anything Sabbath or Pantera.
10. Fluffy stuff like Fluff 9. Tony Martin was dreadful live 8. Probably inspired Black Veil Brides 7. Bill Ward's tights 6. They (they) they (they) they (they) went and played Sun Cityyyyy
I'm not a big fan of Black Sabbath personally. That said they do have really good songs (like War Pigs, The Wizard, N.I.B., ...) that I do like, it's just a band that doesn't connect with me as much as certain other bands do . I do have respect for them though. The metal scene wouldn't be what it is today if it wasn't for their influence on many bands. And yes I may not be a huge Ozzy fan (I prefer Ronnie personally) but Ozzy's personality doesn't mean that the music isn't good. People that hate the entire band because of Ozzy's personality are just crazy imo.
It's not much of hate but I think it's FUNNY how Iommi kinda does the same solos. Overall their music can make you realize a lot of shit even being sober lol
The "reunion" recording of the 13 album without Bill Ward is unacceptable. Bill said it was for unfair contract terms, Ozzy (hmm...band) said he couldnt cut it musically (odd coming from him, of all people) Utter bullshit - I bought and heard the album and there is nothing there to require a drummer to even break a sweat! The MAJESTY that could have been this product with Bill Ward would have been immeasurble. But...No...13 made it to #1(US), first #1 since Paranoid in 1970(UK). I already had an uneasy feeling listening to the 13 album with no Bill. Then it happened...the album closes with the thunder, rainfall, tolling bell that signaled the intro to the original Black Sabbath (ALL of it: Band/album title/song title), here closing without a key member, yet one who was a key part of the creation. I almost threw up - like I said, very hard going thru the album without Bill in the mix, but this outtro was like a slap in the face. Then again, the lean years Sabbath dudes from the 80s-90s don't know jack shit about self respect...Geezer played bass, stage right, on Ozzy's solo band for a tour! (Thanks boss). Then the MR (sans Dio) lineup accepted to OPEN for Ozzy on Ozzfest (Iommi-shame on you, and Butler-been there, done that). Dio said fuck this and left the band with balls intact. Iommi IS Sabbath - always was, yet we have the creator of metal riffs laying down to Ozzy (Sharon?) because he showed him and Butler (and BILL!) who is boss.
The only reason I hate Black Sabbath is that they don't have enough albums with Ozzy. Dio put out some good shit with them, Dehumanizer being one of my personal favorites (Computer God always gives me a weird rush of motivation to work on my programming assignments), but Ozzy is the OG. It's disheartening to know that they won't be making any more material. Oh well, I'll always have Master of Reality to jam to.
I definitely do not hate (but respect) Black Sabbath but their music never made me feel anything, I tried getting into them or other classic heavy metal bands but failed miserably and it's probably because I'm more into aggressive, sinister and fast sub genres like old school Death and Black Metal. I got into metal through bands like Deicide, Burzum, Morbid Angel, Immolation, etc. Ever since I got into extreme metal I've only been lusting for darker, twisted and heavier music.
A better analogy then the frobble gobble (altough, good one) would be Henry Ford. The "horseless carriage" existed before Ford but he reinvented the modern automobile (and the assembly thereof) we know today.
Number one is the most egregious and juvenile reason to not like something: because it's popular. Speaking for myself, I love music from every genre imaginable and have one requirement for an artist: do they speak to me?
I love the Ozzy era and don't mind the first two Dio albums, but #5 is a valid reason to be sure. To me Sabbath died in 1978. Even though this video criticizes one of my favorite bands, I still think it's a great video.
Not even the snobbiest avant-teen music nerds hate Sabbath before '75. Even if one hates any form of dadrock, Black Sabbath is always an exception. Only those trve metalheads who grew up on Slayer or other mediocre "\m/ xdd metul" music hate Black Sabbath.
These people exist?
That's the real question.
SeriouslyMikey yea they're 15 yr old kids that think Zack Wlyde is a god
+MrCapone1996 Zakk Wylde,bro.
Zakk Wylde is fucking awesome.
Exactly!! I did think the same!!
Metalheads don't have to like them, but they have to respect them.
THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Etan Work Why? Why should that be important and to whom? If they respect them or not , nothing will change.
linke loetje don't you think it's common knowledge and decency for a metalhead to respect the band that practically gave birth to their genre?
Ethan Work You are right. But what i say is that there are and always will be persons that won't respect you. For any good or bad reason. i think it's not important for the one it's concern. I mean if you don't respect me. nothing change for me. therefore it's not really important. Of course it says more about the person not respecting others. I can only speak for myself but I don't care much for people who doesn't respect me.
Black Sabbath is like your mother.
You don't have to like, but you have to respect.
How the fuck can anyone hate Black Sabbath? I can understand hating slipknot or pantera.....but sabbath??????
ikr... I did not know there were people who hated sabbath.
Jared Simpkins Amen man fuck those turds... Rap/Metal mixed..wtf... pass
i understand Slipknot...not Pantera or Sabbath
How can a metalhead hate the band that started it?
Andrew Visokey it’s more that people hate Ozzy than Sabbath
I love Black Sabbath and my friends hate them, I need new friends
You dont need that negative bs in your life
Metal heads weren't born when sabbath were rocking
I might need to wash my eyes and ears after listening to the video, knowing that there are people who legitimately hate Sabbath. It's Unbelievable
Black Sabbath is by far the GREATEST BAND of all time!
- Best Riffs
- Best Lyrics
- Tony Iommi
hell yes!
I wouldnt say "Best" riffs. Just most iconic, I would say.
plus geezer
Don't forget Bill Ward, a kick ass drummer
Don’t forget, best bassist, Mr Geezer Butler
never heard anyone not liking Sabbath. they are the founders of metal
Who hates Sabbath?
People you don't have to hate for doing so.
AIDS_OF SPACE me dipshit
I hate most metal but love black sabbath
They hate it because they think it's old dad metal
Emo core kids
@Rowan Melton this is true man. If emos want us to leave them alone then they can’t hate on sabbath when their deathcore band would not exist without them
As far as I'm concerned, Sabbath invented Metal with their self titled song, but didn't become a proper metal band until Master of Reality
Exactly
Ryan Thompson Guitarist, It was Paranoid, not MOR
How in the world can't you call their first album not metal? It was really heavy for its time.
I totally agree with you , but there are some heavy metal songs in the other two albums "black sabbath" and "paranoid"
black Sabbath are the best heavy metal band in the world and always will be, period
How can people hate Black Sabbath?! Out of all these bands you made a video for, Sabbath is the only band I can't think of a reason.
The only reason I can see why people hate Black Sabbath is that Ozzy Osbourne is insane
Other than that I don't see a lot other than it not being their cup of tea, but "hate" I don't see it
I've never met anyone (who's not a Bible thumper) that hates Black Sabbath. They are gods of metal.
Gigan2004 I am a Bible thumper and I love Sabbath for the last 27 years
Gigan2004 well now you did shit for brains
how is sabbath not metal??

My first concert was the black sabbath concert in Auckland it was incredible glad I got to experience sabbath at this age.
yeah vector arena was great
fuckoff!!!!

Schpida-Man
That's understandable, not everyone likes the same thing.
Sabbath is to important to hard rock and metal to not be respected. hell they've basically touch every heavy rock genre in some way. they weren't the only founding band of course. but paramount regardless. i love black sabbath, they're my favorite only behind iron maiden and rhcp. i'd love to see a top 5 reasons people hate rhcp. thanks!
Number 1 reason it will be the emotional side of rhcp :D
Matt Traverso, I can give you one reason I hate RHCP. They are marxists, and I hate marxism and anything associated with it. Hey, I still use a Frovel Govel!
I dont think i ever heard someone hate black sabbath because its just not possible.
Black Sabbath are the roots of heavy metal , and Ozzy is the grandfather of heavy metal .
Sabbath rocks
He’s actually the godfather of heavy-metal while Iommi is the father of heavy metal.
people who hate black sabbath are commercial radio listeners, and don't appreciate good rock/metal
If you want to hear how important sabbath's influence has been just listen too Paradise Lost Katatonia and Candlemass .
Well I can make a reason 6, their fanbase says they were the first that brought the heavy metal sound. But I find quite some bands that had a particular metal sounds in 1968-70. As a massive floyd fan ive got to say greatest hits don't work for them. They are wholly an album band imho.
Tony himself says Sabbath is heavy metal.
Aaron McBryer Ozzy disagrees that Black Sabbath is metal.
Bukkit God Tony is Black Sabbath, there are more sides to Sabbath than Ozzy. It is very much metal, especially with Dio. Plus, Sabbath made some of the heaviest albums of the 70s, they're metal.
Aaron McBryer, Ozzy said in the 80s that Sabbath is Metal, which is kinda strange...
I never heard a band called METAL until the early 80's. If there was no Sabbath there would have been no metal
Am I the only fan on Earth who actually likes the Forbidden album? I think many of those songs are very good.
Please don't hate me. I have absolute upmost respect and admiration for bands from the NWOBHM movement. They started what would go on to create tons and tons of sub genres. Lol
CKN we need a 5 reason people hate Sharon Osbourne video.
I agree 100% with you CKN on this one. Some of these make absolutely no sense. We're fortunate as a genre to have some of the most knowledged fans as far as where our bands came from, and most of them, list Sabbath as their influence.
the 1st track on their 1st album defines what would become heavy metal.
I know someone who was a fan of Black Sabbath for years, and when they found out they were metal, they decided that they weren't a fan anymore... *SIGH* I lose brain cells each time thinking about it. Talk about having a close mind.
My washing machine is pretty metal if it has a full load in it!
to reference Acid Bath, it's not a true reunion, it's a tribute band
The ONLY other person I've ever seen who holds their hands down at their sides in the same way that Ozzy does is The Emperor in Return of the Jedi.
For number two, I must say this:

What are the first and second songs playing in the background?
Sabbath is not metal? Well, Christ wasn't a Christian and Buddha was not a Buddhist either.
Well, no they weren't. Jesus was a jew, if he existed and Buddhism was created around buddha's actions.
What's the bill ward incident?
name of the background song at 3:17
People hate Sabbath? Okay, that's another strange one. They are arguably the pioneers of heavy metal and influenced so many bands, from Metallica to Alice in Chains.
Even so, there is some metal thrown in there. Sabbath always had that dark grungy sound that influenced AIC, even the Melvins. War Pigs and the Black Sabbath songs are the first thing I think of in terms of sounds like AIC.
Saying Black Sabbath isn't metal is like saying tigers are herbivores.
Celio19891 more like saying Black Sabbath isnt metal is like saying a tiger isnt a cat
I've never heard anyone say that Black Sabbath isn't metal.
They also came out with a different sound
And are an original band!
I still would like to see if you can do a what if roger waters never left Pink Floyd.
Do 5 Reasons why People Hate Manowar. I wouldn't be to hard. I myself
love Manowar but alot of people seem to have some needless or legit hate for
them.
My question is"How can you not like Black Sabbath?"
Black Sabbath is amazing.. I might like death metal most but love listening to these guys often
SIMPLE SOUND? Whoever said that does not know how to appreciate actual music.
Any metalhead that literally hates Black Sabbath does not acknowledge heavy metal's roots
People can hate Black Sabbath all they want, but as a metalhead, they should be respectful, they invented metal.
It boggles my mind to think people hate Black Sabbath. I'm not super into them, for whatever reason it just doesn't click with me, but to hate them? Just how?
I'm a metalhead and Sabbath is hit or miss with me, but i still love 'em.
5 reasons people hate Twisted Sister
The first time you see a picture of the band you will hate it.
10. Fluffy stuff like Fluff
9. Tony Martin was dreadful live
8. Probably inspired Black Veil Brides
7. Bill Ward's tights
People that hate the entire band because of Ozzy's personality are just crazy imo.
tominatorxx I totally get that and kinda feel the same. I like them and respect them but never got really into them
Don't hate them but honestly they have more bad material than they do good material.
It's not much of hate but I think it's FUNNY how Iommi kinda does the same solos. Overall their music can make you realize a lot of shit even being sober lol
5 reasons people hate Led Zeppelin
Iommi IS Sabbath - always was, yet we have the creator of metal riffs laying down to Ozzy (Sharon?) because he showed him and Butler (and BILL!) who is boss.
i didnt know people were capable of hating black sabbath
The only reason I hate Black Sabbath is that they don't have enough albums with Ozzy. Dio put out some good shit with them, Dehumanizer being one of my personal favorites (Computer God always gives me a weird rush of motivation to work on my programming assignments), but Ozzy is the OG. It's disheartening to know that they won't be making any more material.
Oh well, I'll always have Master of Reality to jam to.
I never heard of sabbath claiming anything that wasn't true, or to make themselves different from what they are
3 minutes into the video, and all I can think about is why is he recording this from his grandmothers couch
How can anyone hate Black Sabbath
With brains, ears, the capacity to hold an opinion, and the ability to freely think.
@@Shaylen721 Mind you, I love Black Sabbath. I was just being a smart ass.
People actually think Black Sabbath isn't metal? How dumb are people?
black sabbath is my favorite band ever they were the ones who kickstarted metal and are responsible along with candlemass for creating doom
A better analogy then the frobble gobble (altough, good one) would be Henry Ford. The "horseless carriage" existed before Ford but he reinvented the modern automobile (and the assembly thereof) we know today.
I love Black Sabbath's work up until 1982. They should've disbanded after Dio left.
I hate black Sabbath now because they try to pretend Bill Ward didn't exist when he was what made Sabbath
i love Black Sabbath Ozzy only
Number one is the most egregious and juvenile reason to not like something: because it's popular.
Only those trve metalheads who grew up on Slayer or other mediocre "\m/ xdd metul" music hate Black Sabbath.
the first ten black sabbath lp's are genious, magical, eternal...
