If you can try to make it to Fukuoka, on the south west coast, especially the Ohori Park area. They also have a wonderful city zoo and botanical garden.

What do you mean? Yes, you can. Ramen with only noodles is called “shiru-nashi ramen”. You can also try “maze soba” or “abura soba” which is typically the same kind of dish.

Depends on the country. East Asia is not a cheap region to visit. SE Asia is much more affordable.

You could have gotten accommodations for around the same price in Shinjuku-ku. Trains stop running around midnight until 0500. Taxi's are double the price after dark. Plan accordingly.
Many factors affect the price of an accommodation:
- how early or late you book
- time of year (low/high season)
- How you book (third-party site vs in-person)
- Amenities (washer/dryer, kitchen, pool or gym on site/etc.)
If there was a better deal for what I wanted, I would've booked it.
I knew about the train schedule, but my flight was delayed - nothing I can do about that.
