Netherlands Getting Crazy - Oeteldonk 2024 Den Bosch Walking Tour 4K s-Hertogenbosch
🐸 Welcome to our village with its own game of the upside down world. 's-Hertogenbosch becomes Oeteldonk. So... all in peasant smocks, decorated with frogs. With the colors red-white-yellow everywhere, the colors of the Oeteldonk flag. And of course: the players, the symbols, the music and much more.
The founding of Oeteldonk
In 1881 the bishop of Den Bosch, Monseigneur Adrianus Goldschalk intervened: he wanted to ban the feast, which only led to a huge boost of the celebrations. Members of the middle class founded The Oeteldonkse Club van 1882. Carnival-loving young people gathered in café Plaats Roijaal. The aim was to preserve Carnival in a way everybody could enjoy the feast.
The idea was simple: for three days, the fashionable city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch would be magically transformed into the village Oeteldonk. Every citizen would become a farmer (and women would be called durske). A Burgervoajer (mayor) with the name Peer van den Muggenheuvel was to be the primus inter pares of this village. In 1883, a new element was added: the visit of His Royal Highness Prins Amadeiro, a.k.a prince Carnival. A large procession with floats accompanied him on his arrival.

And the blessing of just opening your 👁️👁️ to see another day. Many people don't think about it until their 🚒🚑🏥 or lose it all because of 🔥🌊🌀🌪️⛈️ or just gun violence ⚰️

Oeteldonk is boring because of every one wears the same blue jackets etc... There are better places in Noord-Brabant to enjoy carnaval.

in denbosch daar kunnen ze geen carnaval vieren. je moet echt naar Tilburg gaan of breda en eindhoven.

Belachelijke onzin. Breda gaat nog. Maar Tilburg en Eindhoven is geen carnaval. Dat zijn gigantisch après ski parties en verder niks. Importcarnaval. In Tilburg vieren ze pas carnaval sinds 1965. In Den Bosch sinds 1381.

Tja, carnaval is dan ook niet slenteren door een stad met een camera op je borst, zonder dat je ergens stopt of met iemand contact maakt. Als jij erop had gehoopt om op eenzelfde manier door de stad te kunnen wandelen en wel allerlei fantastische dingen mee te maken kun je beter thuis blijven.
Deze video toont het wachten op de onthulling van Knillis en daarmee de start van Carnaval. Veel Oeteldonkers gaan pas daarna goed van start. Dus zie het als een gezellig samenzijn vooraf.
