I remember when my uncle had an arowana and he had a huge tank for it. It was so fascinating to look at. My uncle used to have two but the stronger, bigger arowana killed it’s own brother. My uncle had that fish for about three months or so, and it was healthy and big. My auntie who was living in the same house as my uncle heard a loud thumping noise, like there was something bumping onto the floor rapidly one night. She went to check it out and saw the arowana dead. It had stopped moving. It has jumped out of its tank even though the roof of it was open a slight bit, and that thing was about 5-6 centimetres thick.
Probably the tank doesnt fit for him, when fish jump out of the tank, there is 2 reason for it The tank size too small or the fish has too much excited for they water, they think they live on they natural environment and wanted to explore it out of the glass
They're not that expensive for an albino white one, it only costs around 150-300 bucks. The prices go up for a red arowana (up to 70K) or a golden arowana (up to 300K). But they're extremely hard to take care of, you usually need a very big fish tank for just one arowana, their body is usually long so a big fish tank is needed for them to swim freely. Sometimes, they can get really aggressive also and they tend to jump off the water surface.
I don’t think you know who Emily Voigt is. She spent years with some of the top ichthyologists in the world in pursuit of this fish. She didn’t mistake the price.
Welp the color quality of the fish does have to come to the standards first to have a high price. I've seen many low quality arowanas selling around less than 100 dollars.
I knew an auntie who would be so proud of her arawana. She's say how little it was when she first got it. And how she's been able to raise it to the size today. I remember people saying that having an arawana in your house was good luck. And the longer it lived, the bigger the luck you'd get.

In the Philippines, the Arowana is lowkey considered a status symbol at least to the people interested in fish keeping. It's considered good luck for both business establishment and wealthy homes.

I watched a documentary from Korea or the US (I am not sure), but there were villagers who would work really hard to catch a single Arowana to sell as food. One really big Arowana can bring enough money to feed the family for months because it was a luxury food. However, those Arowanas that they catch were big as a small child and beautiful.
My local pet store has these big aquariums instead of a table.. And they have this fish in it. Never knew that it was this rare..
“What do you do for a job?” “oh I guard fish”
He said dragon fish way too many tines in this video
lmao yea it triggered me , iwas like GODDAMIT IT'S AROWANA
hatim soudani yea it was triggering me
Jordan Vann every time they do, I keep thinking of my dragon goby lol
Makes a video about Asian arowana forgets to mention the ones that are cheaper costing a few hundred or less than a hundred because they must all be as much as a car right?
In the Philippines, the Arowana is lowkey considered a status symbol at least to the people interested in fish keeping. It's considered good luck for both business establishment and wealthy homes.
Did she just say the fish will jump out of the tank to save their owner??
its a myth where the fish would kill itself to protect any accidents or harm befalling the owner. theyre stories where owners miraculously survives a car crash only to come home to find their arowana dead.
Asian myth. There's also this myth that aros will trade lives with their owners - dying instead of the owner
Emily Voigt is a very talented author and I would definitely recommend The Dragon Behind the Glass. It is an amazing book and she did a very job of telling a truly captivating story just about a fish.
I thought it was very good too.
This is the first time in my life I've heard someone refers to arowana as 'dragon fish'
"How many cars do you have? "
"Nah, I keep fish..!!"
You can get the fish way more cheaper in Malaysia 👌🏻
Yeaaaa
To quote a famous movie character: "it's more illegal to shoot a tiger, than it is your own mother! If it exists, it's probably illegal...".

True story. I worked in a petland discount back when I was a teen and they had a little one on sale for 80 bucks at the time. Someone comes in to pays for it and when I go to get it for them I did not know the fish jump and when I opened up the top of the tank the fish jumped to his death. The poor fish hit the floor and was dead. We actually had to save the body.
Was that the only one left?
Americans call Football Soccer and Arowana’s dragon fish
it's 80 dollars in my local fish store. forget it I was talking about the silver arowana
So exotic carp?
@conan263 What kind of sophistry the fengshui expert say that arwana do but koi can't?
* Exotic CRAP
conan263 it's Arowana. Nobody calls it the dragon fish.
conan263 but I am Asian. Maybe is it because in the US where I live, nobody calls it a dragon fish?
These are not in the same family as carp.
You thinking of Koi?
I could imagine a robber mistakenly braking in into these please thinking it was like a bank only to be confused by all “worthless” fish
$300K Fish Vs $300K Car
*WhY ThE FiSH oF CoUrsE?!!*
"These fish are worth thousands of dollars"
"Theyre illegal to sell in the United States"
"Albino arowanas are especially rare and expensive"
*stares at the dozens of arowana being sold in local specialized fish stores for a lot less that $500 each, along with the actually albino arowanas that have the red/pink eyes that aren't even $700 each* ok
Asian arowana and silver/albino arowana arent the same.
@@Thonycv I've seen arowana with the telltale pink eyes at specialized pet stores (tho in this video, like many have pointed out, uses silver arowana instead of actual albino arowana which is rly funny imo). I assume the ones I've seen just happened to be born there or they're donated for one reason or another, but I've seen a few very clearly albino arowanas being sold on occasion at pet stores
The one in the video is platinum, albino fish have red or pink eyes and the white is a bit yellow or pink
