I loved the intro. Keep up the great work. Cant say I've ever had an ESB so im looking forward to the tasting video.
Like a malty and Little less bitter than the American pale ale. I actually won first place in a small local competition on Tuesday. It's good!
Haha the Monty Python intro was great!
Thanks! I am trying to have a bit more fun with the videos, while still giving brewing info. I have a pecan/maple brown ale I did with some friends I'll put out in a few weeks too! 🍻🤘
Thanks!
🤘💯🍻 Thanks for the support!
@@CityscapeBrewing you are welcome. Was going to this during the live chat the other night but bailed before due to a politically charged comment I saw. No dig against you but just didn’t want to get into it and was having a hard time.
Ok, yeah I try to keep that stuff out of the chats and comments but can't see them all when brewing and running around. Thanks again.
nice vid. ESB is calling my name now
It's a good one!! 💯
Nice brewday! I’m definitely giving Fermcap a shot for my next brewday. Cheers!
I use it in every single one... You'll never go back lol
Looking forward to the tasting. I've never had an ESB. I'm not a big Brown Ale guy , and as I understand it ,these are close.
Actually an ESB is similar to an American pale ale, but a bit more malt forward and less bitter generally.
Great show what is the ibu on this beer thanks
The IBU is 42. Style guidelines say the range should be between 30-50 IBU. I am going to update the recipe in the description to include the IBU and SRM numbers.
Curious what your thoughts are on hop utilization when using a hop spider vs throwing directly into the wort. I don't think I get as much when using a spider. My electric brew system doesn't get that vigorous propane boil. Looking at ways to eliminate the spider and not clog my recirc pump. 🍻
Good Question! They do have some affect on hop utilization, however im not sure it is that noticeable in my opinion. Also, there are a few things you can do to help to lessen the impact on the beer. I use the 5 gallon paint strainer bag version of a hop spider when I have a lot of hops (I have a video on how to make one of those). The bag allows more surface area and doesn't clog as much as the metal screen ones. I also try to lift the bag/screen out of the wort several times to drain out the oils and even stir inside the metal hop spider as well to get out the oils into the beer This will help some, and you can also add the hops a few minutes early or add a tad more hops to make up for the difference (like 1.1 oz instead of 1.0 oz.). In reality, I am not sure I could taste a difference if I did a side by side with one in the hop spider and one thrown in the wort, I just use a hop spider so have to clean a pump or filter when I'm transferring to my fermenter. Hope that helps! 🍺
The home made hop spider break? Are you still using a bazooka screen in your mash tun?
Yes, I use a 12-in bazooka screen in the mash tun. No I use the homemade hop spider when I have more than just a couple of ounces of hops. When I have just 2 oz like this beer, I use the metal hop spider. Any more than that I go to the paint strainer bag homemade one.
