Figures I miss the live for the thing I’ve been very curious about. But you explained everything very well. I ended up buying some new old stock schaller d tuners for half the price. And recently just put them on a couple of days ago. Definitely finicky. I need more time with them. Now I know. And your video about d tuners shows that they can be a pain to tune. Which I already figured out first hand. Just nice to see it’s not just me. Thank you Jim. Hope you have a happy new year
Hey Jim. I decided to learn to play Banjo a few years back. I mostly use your lessons as they are easy to follow. I live in Sheffield Tasmania. Would like to learn how to play the Last post if you can help. Cheers
I guess we up in Maine don't get notifications until some time after your live event starts. T 'Tis a sad state of affairs. My first thought when I opened the replay of your "live" broadcast, "Gee, I wish I could see his pickin' hand. Well anyway, a live presentation would be cool. (I really appreciate your re-stringing video and use that back-wind technique for all of my instruments now-Thanks). So, I wanted to ask, (although apparently off topic), does anyone play banjo with thumb nd three fingers? I learned a finger roll pattern and am finding it hard to transition to only three. (Not that I'm anywhere near proficient at the four finger roll). I can't seem to increase my speed no matter which I try. Anyway, I do like and recognize the benefits of the detuners too. Thanks. Wish you lived in Somerset County, err...I mean in Maine...lol.
First the complaints… it’s not really up to me when UA-cam sends out notifications. I’m literally not sitting here notifying thousands of folks based on their geography. The topic was d-tuners. I had three things to choose from: left hand, right hand, and my face. I guess I could have not had my face in the video, but then there wouldn’t have been good video of the d-tuners. “But Jim, you could back up”. Nope, literally I can’t. As for four finger rolls check out Greg Liszt.
@@JimPankey Thanks for your response Jim, but to better explain, I was not complaining about you or when "you" decided to send your video to me. I was merely pointing out that I don't get notifications (through UA-cam, as a subscriber), in a timely manner. Nothing at all to do with your presentations. As for your camera angle, I would not want to miss an opportunity to see your pretty face and yes, the topic was d-tuners and the camera angle should definitely be focused on those items. (They do look pretty handy). Please never take offense at anything I say. I'm not that kinda guy! I truly appreciate what you do and take in what my feeble mind can grasp when I can. I do like to study the picking patters of others, which was why I mentioned seeing your picking hand. Sorry for the misunderstanding or confusing manner in which I tried to present my "issue," if you will. Have a great day.

Last Post?
@@JimPankey The Last Post. Usually played on ANZAC DAY. Mostly on trumpet.
Jim I have an Aunt who lives in Casper , Wyoming .
Oh man, I always miss the livestreams when they're live!
Maybe next time!
Hey Jim Congrats On 100k
Thanks!!
Jim, have you ever tried “The Mighty D” tuners that have them on BHO? Kind of like the cheat a keys but less visible hardware.
I’ve know several folks that have bought them and didn’t really care for them.

See… that’s what I get for posting pre-coffee. 😬😁
Do I need the Extra wide set of Cheat a keys for a RK-35?
You need the wide set
Thanks Jim was fun and educational. West of Dayton Ohio
Glad you enjoyed it.
Now that was cool!
Cool? Man, was so stressful dealing with all the retuning. :)
Trust in the rolls!
🤣
Nice one Jim 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks 👍
Do you know Carl Story and his rambling mountaineers?
I do!
Two more questions were do you live? and can you do some of his gospel tunes?
I’m in Georgia. I do have a few gospel tunes posted.
👍
Howdy!
Do you know Carl Story?
Never met him, but yes.
I can’t find any d tuners to purchase online..no cheater tuners available at all
I’m sure places will have them soon. There’s always www.beaconbanjo.com/product-category/keith-banjo-tuners/
Q: How long does it take to tune a banjo?
A: Nobody knows.
