My family is Taiwanese and we live in America and we use that kind of canned corn for corn soup here too! But we just crack the egg directly into the pot and make sure to stir right away; that way in the end you get pieces of yolk, pieces of egg white, and pieces of both and it looks more colorful, idk about taste difference tho🤣 Also we add meat; when my mom was growing up they used finely chopped meat, but we like using ham better.

We boiled the corn on the cob then put on a plate and spread butter and melt on it , also put some salt on it
in singapore and malaysia, we call the carrot soup ABC soup! but it's usually with red carrots, corn, tomato and onions (and meat of your choice) :)
