That kangaroo flag is excellent, and much better than the current flag. It isn't "too complicated for flag use" - the red dragon flag of Wales is far more complicated, yet the Welsh have no trouble using it.
The Brett Moxey design is the best alternative design in keeping it as close to how it is without the Union Jack. I am afraid any idea of a boomrang is nonsense. Its just absurd and not going to happen.
The Golden Wattle is the strongest Australian flag design I’ve seen. We need to leave kangaroos out of it, and need to be ok with just appreciating the Crux in our skies. You can see the same constellation in Chile or Brazil or… Antarctica ffs. We need a flag that encourages unity especially within such a multicultural population. “We are one, but we are many”. The Golden Wattle design screams this. Many different parts coming together to ‘complete’ a unique shape. Or many different cultures connecting to ‘complete’ a very unique Australian society. Anyway.. I’ve got mine, and I fly it proudly.

Crazy, Southern Cross is carried by many countries, Southern Cross is seen by all in the southern hemisphere. Our colours are Green and Gold our floral emblem is taken from the Cootamundra Wattle tree, and indigineous species. One of the most iconic brands in the world is the kangaroo our fauna emblem, it is known throughout the world. I travelled through Europe and the USA for many months, my hat had a small kangaroo badge on the side of it, everyone that's everyone I met new I was an Australian. Keep it simple, our colours, green and gold, our kangaroo. Simple.
I like the Brett Moxey design. But I also would like to see a stylized kangaroo incorporated into the design as the kangaroo is recognized all over the world as synonymous with Australia.

I would say make the boomerang not curvy make it cover the entire flag add a green background inside the boomerang and a yellow background outside the boomerang and put the stars inside the boomerang.

The flags of North African countries like Libya lack symbols of their first people, but you don't seem to have a problem with it. There's no indigenous symbolism on the Egyptian flag. Arabs are not indigenous to Egypt. Egypt didn't speak Arabic 1.5k years ago.

Your design is quite good. The only thing I'd change is the orientation of the Southern Cross. I wouldn't have re-oriented it by 90°. I'd only have shifted it enough to roughly line up its stars with the top edge of the flag, so they run more parallel with it. Though, while I like it, I wouldn't choose it. I'm not too worried by a 'busy' looking flag, so I'd choose one with more elements of Australia's three current flags combined. I'm really pleased you didn't go for anything that played on the whole 'down under' stupidity like that architect. A stupid fallacy.
I think you should have included green in your design, it would have made it 10 times better. Your design I rate a 6.5/10. I think if there was green somewhere in the flag it would be like a 10/10

They all look terrible. Why not use the Triple Union flag, or better yet, keep the current flag? The flags of Fiji & Tuvalu still have the Union flag in theirs. Tuvalu tried to change their flag, but many of its citizens opposed it & it was changed back to the one with the Union flag in the canton.

We rotated it to fit where the canton is on the current flag. Wasn't a popular decision seemingly! We might go back and do another Australian flag. Overall it definitely wasn't our best redesign.
I wont be flying any than the present flag. The red one is used for the merchant navy, The British crown is no longer our head of state its the Governor General that is our head of state as he signs all the laws that come into effect. not the crown. Thanks to my forebears that I am here I am 91% Scots/Irish 7% Northern English and 2% Italian. Our national anthem was penned by a Scottish immigrant who thought it well worth while to make our anthem. I don't sing the new version as I feel that is treason to my way of thinking. If people who come here don't like is go home to your own country.

Thanks to my forebears that I am here I am 91% Scots/Irish 7% Northern English and 2% Italian. Our national anthem was penned by a Scottish immigrant who thought it well worth while to make our anthem. I don't sing the new version as I feel that is treason to my way of thinking. If people who come here don't like is go home to your own country.

France helped America be a thing, we don’t have the French flag on our flag, so I’d say just because a nation helped you be a thing you don’t need to put the literal flag of a different nation on your flag.

Man just relax and calm down , Australia is a secular country okay , everyone is free to choose his religion , why you are living in a phobia ?! Muslims, same as jew-sh or Hindi or Buddhists , are skilled immigrant that helps the economy to boost and contribute to the economy , they obey the law , pay their taxes , they love this country and very grateful to it as much as any other Australian . Australia is country made up of immigrants 99 % , the only native is the aboriginals

@SERENITY SLEEPS I agree with what you said about the important role the British played in developing Australia, but their arrival was still an invasion, there was genocide and slavery. And again the British only started the development process, Australia is what it is today thanks to migrants from all over the world, for their ideas and hard work, many great minds made this country great.
Nigeria on the other hand, got independence in 1960, and today they live in complete shit and corruption, but got to change their flag, which was very similar to Aussie today, that was not worth it tho.
In conclusion, I would like to say that Aussie should not forget about it's ancient history, and also should not forget that the British helped in development, with time the Union Jack on the flag will go, this is inevitable.
Every person in Aussie with British roots will still remember where he/she came from, and yet, Aussie is a multicultural country.
