  • This home movie footage shows scenes relating to the funeral activities of former president Harry S. Truman in Independence, Missouri, December 27, 1972. It shows home movie footage interspersed with newspaper headlines and photographs. It includes scenes of downtown Independence and Courthouse Square, the Truman Home, and streets with honor guards. The hearse bearing the president's casket passes. Other scenes show the crowds lining the streets, a flyover, the Truman Library shown from afar. Former President Lyndon Baines Johnson and former First Lady Lady Bird Johnson arrive at the Truman Home and are greeted by Margaret Truman Daniel and Clifton Daniel, and then leave. President Richard M. Nixon and First Lady Pat Nixon then arrive at the Truman Home and are similarly greeted.
