    Extremely helpful information thank you. I live in Salem Missouri and will be checking out our local farmers market tomorrow to see what's being sold, that's the 1st step. Not rushing into it so I do it correctly. I just started making my own specially breads and share with my family. I'm getting great responses and encouragement to start thinking about saling. I look forward to this new endeavor and meeting people. Thanks again. Missouri wrightchk

    Health departments and their rules. It seems every one is different. It would be nice to have blanket codes. One is telling me I can’t sell anything that needs refrigerated while the organizer for one of the markets in her district has vendors selling refrigerated and cooked foods.

    As Farmers Markets go does the labeling matter as much as it would in stores? I sell wild harvested and home cultivated mushrooms. But my best seller is the tinctures and tea I make from them. My problem is I have zero knowledge on how to design labels, business cards and literature. Do they need to be fancy or just legible? Also will you please explain Logos to me. Is a logo the same as the business name? Or is it just an image that represent your company? Also how do I get my logo? I don't make a lot of money yet so let's keep that in mind. Thank you so much I'm enjoying your videos

    I’ve done two farmers markets and they were both horrible. I am a food vendor, we primarily do catering but this year we wanted to add festivals. The problem is at the farmers markets I’m not allowed to cook the food fresh. I have to go to the licensed kitchen and cook the food, package it and then keep it hot, or cold. I think the problem is my both looks dead, cause I’m not cooking it, no smells. Is it this or do people not go to farmers markets to eat? I’ve been trying to sell hickory smoked angus burgers, chicken fillets sandwiches, Nathan’s 1/4lb hot dogs, chicken salads with fresh cut strawberries, tomatoes, feta, etc. and some cold sandwiches. I actually just got home from my second one and I lost $200 today. Any advice? I’m thinking it’s just the wrong market and I should stick to places I can cook?

    How much entry free (if any) you pay to keep you booth/tent in farmers market? I understand it differs place to place…but just Curious, ty!

    • @MarketingFoodOnline

      lowest is $50 highest was $225 this to depends on the size and amount of traffic they get. Larger events KNOW they will sell more so they charge more

    So, you're saying don't sell at a market where you're the only one with your product and don't sell at a market where there are others selling similar items. Is there a happy medium?

    • @MarketingFoodOnline
      @MarketingFoodOnline  5 років тому +2

      Hey Leah
      Thanks for asking I am sorry I can clarify... from experience I try to find markets that don't have my type of or my items example say you make a line of roasted nuts and offer in several flavors...I would probably not sell at a market where there is another vendor who sells the same thing. I strive to find markets that are not selling the same. Also many markets will limit the amount of vendors selling the same item to prevent overkill of a certain product. To much of the same item will make it hard for you to make a sale.

    what about legality - do i need to get a business license for something so small? do i need get my hot sauce inspected by some sort of food license place or something or can i just bottle it and sell it?

    • @MarketingFoodOnline

      Hello Jake thanks for asking do you make this from home? If so you would have to see if your states cottage food laws allow hot sauces to be made from home. If they do allow it you can sell only in limited venues as well, like farmers markets, events local events. What state are you in? I can direct you to the right sire for more info Damian
