One tip I saw a long ago that really helps when using this volume cubes (when the visible line is showing too much like you mentioned at 10:36) is adding a subdiv modifier to round it up and mimic the round atmosphere of the earth.
Fantastic video. I've been learning Blender for a few months now, and getting hold of all the basics was an absolute slog. However, I'm well versed enough to start learning more advanced techniques, and your teaching style is exactly what I need. I've been a photographer for 20 years and relating all this lighting in terms I'm familiar with, but then applying them with Blender's specific features is wonderful. I'll be singing up for your courses.
this is really helpful, thank u so much. I would love to see another lighting such as cyberpunk, neon and that kind of stuff especially since its using a lot of different colors and still could be something thats amazing.
Yo, i am doing Blender for a long time, and still learning new stuff, good job on some tips there, thanks! 24:40 One note, i've noticed you are using same technique with black box behind the camera. It's even better if you make that black like Vanta black, roughness to 1 and specular to 0. Open up one side of the box so you can basically envelop your foreground and even show your box on camera if needed, but with Camera ray visibility turned off in Object Properties>Ray Visibility.
Hey Max! Great work on the video. I had a question that I was hoping you (or anyone in the comments) could offer their tips on. So I’ve been working in several projects for interior shots (kitchens, bathrooms, etc) and usually the lighting comes from the ceiling lights. Hdri and sky position sun lights worked for rooms with large windows, but not much else. I’ve tried using ies lighting, but there’s so many options to pick from, I usually don’t know which one to use. Usually some point lights or area lights have worked, but I wanted to know if you had any better recommendations. Thank you and keep up the amazing work!!!
what r ur thaughts on Render Mist Pass/Depth Map instead of volumes? blender struggles with volumes and it takes long to render plus it causes ugly denoise artifacts, downside u cant see light streaks... have u ever tried it and got any pleasing results?
Lighting is like microwaving a perfect bowl of ramen. At first you might think it’s simple- although you realize there’s art involved. The water has to be just hot enough for a certain amount of time to boil the food. With all these exact measurements lighting is key….
Hey do you have all the quixel megascans asset/ textures on your computer or in the cloud you can link to me. Bridge doesn’t doesn’t download asset anymore. I would greatly appreciate that . Thanks
I am a 3dmax user for 8 years and you are one of few people who made me start learning Blender... Thanks alot for your useful videos..

Deep Learning
What's your render resolutions?
16:43 Shift + F
As you rotated the HDRI image I could see the shadows move with it. Where/what on the image is the point source that causes the shadows?
