Thank you for your videos. I am also following the non-op route and am grateful for your weekly insights, which I have been watching religiously... Just crossed the 13 week mark, encouraging to see that my progress is closely aligned to yours. Not sure how it is everywhere else but in the US people look at me as if I had 3 eyes when I tell them I went non-surgical. So far, I am very glad that I did ("knock on wood") and your videos have certainly helped me tremendously in coping with the injury and in comparing notes on our recoveries.

Your videos have been a great source of inspiration and information. I'm 13 weeks as of today and feeling great, but I know it's a long way to go to get back!

SJ is a life saver! I appreciate you for taking the time, while going thru the pain, to make these videos. You helped so many people (as i read in the comments), and myself. I am in my 12 month recovery and i feel fine, just some stiffness, due to me going back to normal life around month 4, and i stopped stretching as much. thanks you so much, and for the newbies that just tore, FOLLOW HIS INSTRUCTIONS, Stay a couple weeks ahead (still follow week by week) of SJ videos, and YOU WILL BE FINE!

Thank you so much for your videos. I've been following since week 4 no-op. It feels so good to be able to walk again.

I just got back from my therapy, He wanted me to walk on my tip toes.. I can't even do a single calf raise or put much weight on that by itself.. I also still swell .. I was so discouraged ,but I seen you and can do these with you.. So you encouraged me and I thank you so much. I will get there..

I am from Uk , in my 13 week from my achilie rapture , NHS reffer me to few of hydro therapy session , I must say ..those were really good. I won't do too many due to the lack of time but I would highly recommend it if you have free access to those sessions. NHS provide them free of charge in UK .

Just got to this point, pretty much same experience. Once you’re out of the boot and able to stand in the shower again everything gets so much easier. Thanks for documenting yours!

I have diligently been watching all your videos week by week, as I progress through my achilles rupture. I am at 12.5 weeks now too and I have a few questions:
    1. When did your swelling in the ankle/foot completely go away? Mine still swells up, esp. in the second half of the day, though it's less than it was even a couple of weeks ago.
    2. My dorsiflex is still far from touching the wall. I am still at about negative 6-7 cm. It's about +12-13 cm on my non injured leg. Should I be more aggressive in my dorsiflex stretching?
    3. How often did you at this point exercise during a day? I try to do at least 2-3 times daily, e.g. stretching, two-legged calf raises, balancing on the injured foot, walking. But maybe it's not enough...?
    4. Did you have pain at the heel, i.e. achilles insertional point? I have that pain after walking and doing exercising, and wondering whether it's normal.
If you can answer even just one of the above Qs, that'd be great! THANKS!

I'm on week 10 from point of treatment(non op), or week 12 from day of injury. There was a delay in treatment due to the bureaucracy of the NHS in UK. I'm walking with a little limp due to stiffness of the calf/achilees. What sort of stretches do you recommend doing?

Hi. Did you do calve raises everyday?

  • @anneochana782

Hi SJ, It’s good to see you progress, your double calf raises look great. I think that I need to up my game on that exercise, I am only managing two sets of 20 twice a day, along with my other exercises, and I am still finding them difficult. Are you just doing calf raises or are you , still doing the balancing and ankle ROM exercises ? If so how do you fit this into your working day?

    • @SJachilles
      @SJachilles  6 років тому +3

Thanks Anna. I only do calf raises and stretches now. Stopped doing the ROMs after I got out of the boot. I figured stiffness is not much of an issue once you’re walking around, it’s all about strength now. In term of calf raises, I do one set of 20, five times a day so it’s about 100 reps. That’s all I find time for but my Physio actually wants me doing it 200 times a day. Good luck!

Im having trouble understanding the knee to wall measurements you mention throughout your series. Are you now able to touch your knee to the wall with your foot 2cm away from the wall?

Hey SJ, do you feel the spot where it reconnected, like the bump with the scar tissue?

Im at the same point rn and I have a scar tissue bump (day 77). My doctor says that a complete number things because it's healing. it only becomes a problem later on if it just sticks around
