Even with my limited skills I find the following variant for Em quite Easy: 222022. Index finger bars the three lowest strings, ring finger on 2nd fret high A and pinkie on 2nd fret high D. With hand slightly angled, the open middle G sings clearly (which of course is what makes this a minor chord). The result is a full six-string Em, which I like.
