Great analysis. One interesting note is that both versions end with the implication Fleance will continue the cycle of bloodshed, but in the 2015 version Fleance is acting on his own accord, picking up Macbeths' sword. In the 2021 version he is implied to end up a puppet to Ross. The former has Fleance ironically become Macbeths "heir" while the latter simply has him as s chesspiece in a larger con.

Great analysis. I’ll go against the grain and say I loved the interpretation and liberties taken in the 2015 Macbeth more than The Tragedy of Macbeth. Both were top notch adaptations in their own right.

Brilliant analysis and comparison of both adaptations. I loved both films and how different they were whilst maintaining the text. It really goes to show how elastic Shakespeare’s plays are.
I’m just happy there’s two excellent modern adaptations of this great play released so close together.

One thing I like about Denzel’s performance in the tragedy of Macbeth is that, particularly in the first third of the play, Denzel really plays Macbeth as passive and almost unwilling participant in the plot to kill Duncan. He is able to do the violence his king demanded or his wife demands, but he also knows that he is the one who will have to live with it

I find Orson Welles' film adaptation to be a boring watching experience. I turned it off after seeing 30 minutes.

2015 was the best 4 me! I find the 4:3 aspect ratio very off putting! I don't understand why directors use it?x

Honestly I found the Coen film a little disappointing. 2015 was far superior in my opinion. A perfect adaptation as far as I'm concerned.
