I used The DJ Brush Blueing Technique last night on a set of Bernard Pliers, lot easier to coat all the intricate areas with a brush instead of a swab.

Looks great DJ. I don't think i can take credit for the nail pins in the hammer handle but it does seem like a good idea. I have drilled and doweled and wire wrapped cracked handles and used nails in a pinch but i haven't tried to make them look decorative. That bluing looks awesome. It really took the bluing great. My grandfather had one of the waffle faced hatchets like it that he used for a framing hammer.

Now that you said it, I should have wired, and then epoxy on top on the wire!

That came out great DJ. I’ve also heard of that referred to as a “Rigging Axe” before.

Never heard of that, but thanks for the info, I like the sound of Rigging Axe!

You talked about not having the correct nail for this The finishing nails that you're using You could have easily taken them And grab them with a strong enough cutter to leave marks in them So that as you drove them in that would act as the rings that you need it Again it would added more time to your process You did looks like it will work forever so Keep the faith brother

Yea, you are right, but I should have wired it up and then put epoxy on it!

I don't think the nails will help to avoid splitting, as you put them "in the line of fracture". I think you should have put them in the other way, to counter that line and maintain the fibers. But your tools, your rules !😊

No I did put them across the grain, but I should have wired it and then put epoxy on top of it! I have used it, to tear some sheetrock out and it held up so far!
