- Another fun one that was suggested to me. I'd not delved into these guys at all before, so this was cool. The album actually sounded great, except for one thing, the 2nd worst kick drum sound I've ever heard on a professional recording. (#1 goes to Slipknot on Vol3, the whole album sounds amazing except for the kick, which sounds like someone snapping their fingers with zero thump to it, super weird). The main thing I tried to do was open it up a bit on the top as it sounded kinda chunky to me. So some light EQ all around. I also just tried to reign in the jumpiness of a lot of the tracks. I know its not very punk rock do to that, but it irks my ears how sometimes stuff just slaps you in the face (aurally anyway) and then disappears. So some light selective compression. I include the top end in that since, when I opened up the airy-ness a bit, it needed a bit of a tighter grip to not sound tinny. I think it turned out well. Its also interesting to compare to the official remastered version. Because of my insistence on control, mine sounds way more contained and less spacious. So its a good study in what mastering can do. The official version if definitely larger sounding and more "punk" and mine, based on personal preference, is much more modern metal. Feel free to not like it.
This sounds fantastic, it sounds faster to me, and I can actually understand the lyrics now, for the most part. the guitar comes through a lot clearer too. Very well done.
I used to listen to this with my brother all the time. Love you Shawn

just found this and thank you! Love this record and fun to listen to a different mix. It sounds great.
Thanks! My favorite Hardcore Punk album! 👍
Sounds fantastic!!!!
I bought that record when it came out, its what got me out of punk and into hc.
Thanks for the great remastering. Sounds a great deal better now....another gem with supercrappy drumsounds is Chung King can suck it by Judge. I think a lot of Hardcore fans will praise you for remastering it...
Thanks for the work on this one man. Its funny you mention that kick drum - it's always sounded so off to me even when I was a kid. Going from the Minor Threat self titled album to this one - it was just so muted.
This is great work! Congratulations :O
Minor Threat was my favorite 80s punk band. Something about that voice & actually a melody!
Perfect explanation of what makes the great!
It’s possible to listen to Minor Threat’s entire album discography without breathing.
I ain't never told the truth, so how the hell could i tell a lie
One of my favorite linguistic paradoxes. This statement is false. Love it.
This is a pretty solid remaster. Considering the original was recorded for vinyl, in the 80s, by dischord, it absolutely needed some work. You did a great job with this one. If you liked working on a punk album and want to do it again, you should check out Adolescents self titled album.
did it need remastering? thats a matter for debate
WHY is this so FUCKING AWESOME???🤔🤯🙂
What happened with your Violator Remaster?
faaat! thx man, i love ur stuff! :D please!!!!! do Napalm Death´s Mentally Murdered
u know what, better do "Leaders Not Followers" because it sounds shit but Mentally Murdered is already PERFECT :D
Do Knocked Loose Pop Culture Ep
This really needs a remaster.

You know what I was listening to the other day that I thought you might like to mess with?.... hed PE. A lot of people dont like em, a lot of people like em too much. Lyrics are hilarious. "Truth Raising" album in particular. It has a few songs that sound flat. Then there is "Its Alright" Which is my personal favorite song on the album. Sounds like it was recorded live maybe, in parts, then in other parts, it doesn't, needs some help either way. The real songs that are in desperate need of your assistance imo, are the ones that he does with the Kottonmouth Kings, not a huge fan of those guys, but I will admit, that when the get with hed PE, together they make magic. Songs like -Keep on movin (On the kmk album) - one more body (hed pe album I think) and -end of the rope.... All great tunes but in serious need of some remixing.
The songs are so ass that it's super good.
Nice remaster, have you ever considered Testament - The Legacy? Not sure if its been remastered, the original CD is a thrash classic but I wish it sounded better.
Funny this is now controversial to the establishment punk rock scene. Might as well be Ian Stuart or Skrewdriver....pop culture is a ridiculous paradigm. Thanks for reading.
I read your comment. Could you elaborate? What/who's the establishment punk rock scene? What's make Minor Threat controversial? Thank you for your reply.
Controversial to the establishment punk rock scene? There's like 5 oxymorons in there.
I don't know what you're on about but your mention of Skrewdriver makes me antsy and suspicious that you're one of the punks that really ought to fuck off. If you catch my drift?
I bought this LP at my local shop because of the hype. All the credits given to them as if they stand up next to bands like Bad Brains and AF. Love YOT, love The Alligators, but what the hell was this? Put this record on once, have it up for sale now for $5. Hands down the most disappointing of the heralded hardcore punk albums to ever scheme its way into my playlist due to overstimulated hype. Sorry
