Can we just talk about how this is the ONE video he got a clothing brand sponsership on instead of a skillshare one 😂 how fitting
A very well tailored plan indeed!
Nice pun bro
Good observation!!! I completely missed that!! Solo, you clever clever boy 👏🏾👏🏾
"fitting". Heh, nice pun😏

I heard about that story, it is dark as hell
That’s sounds good
Yes!!!
@@xavierfletcher7484 it is the story is so weird and just dark in all words
JON DO THIS
"His head held high". That day, the emperor became an exhibitionist, to the dismay of all.
Yesss😂
And, the emperor discovered a new fetish . . . and became an Exhibitionist!
I approve!
And the first nudist colony in the kingdom was opened
😂
idk why but the name Emperor Tony sounds like he should own a mattress store in Brooklyn
He wanted to say Trump but could not, so you have to be happy with Tony.
Or Caldwell NJ
I live near a mattress store in Brooklyn
What are the odds?
And be portrayed in a glorious sitcom by Danny Devito
😂😂😂
Well, they did hold true to the moral in Emperor's New Groove. He had to go through an embarrassing transition to be revealed on how his people truly think about him. Rulers can be wrong and need to learn to be humbled, not only be surrounded by "yes men".
Sounds familiar
He just didn't get naked. It would be inappropriate for a kid's movie.
@@taynamahoe3602 He was naked as a llama though. lol
@@tiajoseph7309 yeah after drinking the human potention it cuts to the next scene where maybe a week passed
THANK YOU. I love his videos, but was flabbergasted that he didnt see the connection between the two. I mean, its not a complete retelling of the story, but more like a twist on it but definitely relies on the same morals and lessons or whatever.
A few takeaways:
1.Hans Christian Anderson is the goat of children’s stories.
2.It’s really amazing how humans never learn. We have the same problems as we’ve always had. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
3. I’m glad he changed the ending.
4. Finally what would you have done in the story? Lied? Spoken up? Personally, I’d like to think I’d have spoken up but I probably would have lied just like the rest.
Funny thing about your point number 2, the very people who complain the most about that are also the ones who keep voting those very same problems right back into office.
"Low Information Voters"
I would've said something along the likes of, "Is this behavior normal for royals, or is this a custom of pageantry unique to this town?"
I would word it in this way in the hopes that I'm plainly eluding to it in as polite a manner as possible and hopefully spare the Emperor from some small measure of embarrassment.
I doubt it would be enough for me to keep my head, but hey, at least I tried to be tactful :P
oh I'd definitely lie. Especially during that time period when ppl get beheaded left and right. Plus the kings an ass so
@@p0cketpainter That's understandable and yeah I can fully support not dying so I can't fault you for that lol
@Mr. Kenworth don’t forget child molester (and probable rapist, with 24 logged flights on the Epstein express) and traitor.
"Man, people used to really suck at coming up with titles."
*Meanwhile, in Japan:*
"I Am The Student Council President But I Was Reborn In A New World And My Armor Can Only Be Seen By Those Who Are Pure So I Always Feel I Am Naked."
How about this one from China-- Full Marks Hidden Marriage: Pick Up a Son Get a Husband. It's actually an entertaining read full of some of the most cringy tropes storytelling. Also the only time I've ever seen the "drugged in a hotel room" done well.
@Tyrant-Den every damn time.
Google brings up zero hits on that title.
@@rei-rei that's not the joke. The joke is that I'm a High School Boy and a Bestselling Light Novel author, strangled by my female classmate who is my junior and a voice actress
And other ridiculously long an specific titles are.
@@tyrant-den884 Aww, but I really wanted to watch that anime... *pouts*
Gunther isn't naked! He's perfectly decently dressed in a collar!
Gunther kept his eyes closed the entire time too!
Don’t forget about his lovely fur coat
I feel a bit envious of Gunther's collar. Never mind....
Let's not forget that the collar is only a stylish accessory to complete the look. He is always fashionably clad in the finest black fur-xedo that money can buy! :D
collar no tie , is not perfectly decent
This is the funniest of all his stories in my opinion
Agreed
Completely agree, his wit is complimentary to the cadence of his delivery.
It's one of my top 5 favorite HCA stories.
The message is so simple and profoundly enlightened....
I wish I could’ve got to watch it live
This has always been an interesting story to me. One child made everyone change their attitude towards something, with just a few words. And the child was just saying his mind
That's why the phrase 'out of the mouths of babes' exists. Children don't understand lying like adults do. "I didn't do it," is about as far as they understand. If they lie about something else, there's a problem (i.e. being groomed/abused/molested/something horrible and being threatened about telling someone).

I remember the first time I heard this story as a child was on the cartoon Sagwa. Spoilers:
The entire fraud is revealed when the emperor realized that his young kitten Sagwa couldn't see the cloth and that didn't make sense because she was a literal kitten who was one of the most skilled scribes and artists in the kingdom. A literal animal that had intelligence and talent far outreaching the majority of the humans in his kingdom could, in no way, possibly be foolish.

If you haven't done it, you should do "The Red Shoes", it's probably Andersen's darkest story. And it's also about vanity. Except the punishment here isn't humilition, but rather the main character losing her feet. So much for children's stories!!
Edit: one of his darkest stories... he wrote some dark stuff
He said Ask Jeeves...

Seconding a comment so it might get more visibility: THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF
THIS
It's crazy how history repeats its self
Yeah I still can't get over Jenna Marbles being driven off the platform 😥 There's a great video called the the death of authenticity and it points out how people want creators to be their authentic selves but then socially crucify them when they make mistakes. Even if those mistakes happened a decade ago or more & the creator has obviously grown as a person. So more & more we're seeing watered down content & personalities. & that's just not life, that's not the human experience. It's not only an unhealthy standard but an impossible one.

Also another video for the “Three Blind Mice” song because I didn’t know the full first verse of that song until recently when I read it in a book of baby songs at a daycare while working and it was oddly disturbing for a baby song... I had to change the words that were in the book to sing it to the kids.
I am researching and writing a modern day re-telling and re-enactment of The Emperor's New Clothes, Hansel & Gretel and The Little Mermaid; a huge fan of Hans Christian Andersen, The Brothers Grimm, and all Germanic literature, songs/lieden fables, fairy tales and folklore since early childhood (having been raised by a Dutch mother), I am especially fond of and always struck by the original endings of the stories... routinely left contemplating their degrees of change across time --
-- a literal chill went down my spine when you mentioned the story's original ending...with the emperor marching naked through the town and none of the townsfolk saying anything -- why did it terrify me so??

What a contemporary lesson this old tale presents us with today!
Mr. Jon "Shot First" Solo, please tell us you're actually going to a Messed Up Origins of "The Emperor's New Groove." That would be epic. The opening reference was a llama face slap. :-D
This story reminds me of the time I was driving down the road in a high end neighbourhood in our city. I saw an obviously rich girl walking towards the mall in the area dressed in the most expensive levis you can get, donned with an equally expensive blouse finished with a Gucci bag and long blonde hair. I had to giggle. People are pre-conditioned by the media on how they should look and which brands they should wear to achieve a high level of beauty and to prove social status. Because we are so constantly bombarded with these images we lose the plot. This girl despite all this high end grooming had only managed to look very ordinary. When my son was growing up I refused to buy him any Nike or Addis products because in our more dangerous suburbs every gangster wore these brands. These major brands have only managed to rob people of their identify. But having said that I will say that I have found that if I do purchase clothes I am willing to pay a little more for good quality clothes preferably in a style which is basic and does not age. You can always dress such a style up and down according to your needs. Like you have said if you can wear it going to work and then maybe with the addition of maybe a jacket or a change of shoes go out to a restaurant or another special venue in the same basics it is a good choice.
I’m glad some you tubers aren’t afraid to single out people who like to pretend some important things aren’t real just because they don’t want it to be.
Hey Jon, can you do a video about the origins of The Traveling Companion, which was probably one of Andersen's most underated story and my personal favorite

Just realize one thing about John Solo that he will never tell in his videos. But it's great!
Growing up in Germany as a Canadian kid brought many wonderful perks. One of my favourite memories in middle school was being loaded up on buses and driven to the Kurhaus (I think) in Baden Germany. We were there to see an opera - my first ever, and it happened to be The Emperor's New Clothes. One of my top three best childhood memories, and second only to Ski Week, where we could go to Biberwier Austria for a week of skiing with our schoolmates. No parents allowed!
