@RalphStrues I got the part on eBay. You can see if you can find it. Otherwise they come with the wiper motor, and you can just take it off the new motor and keep that on the shelf just in case.
According to the service manual. When the multifunction switch is moved to the off position, the wiper motor will continue in low-speed mode until the wiper motor reaches the parked position. As my wipers don't work in low or intermittent, the wipers will never park properly. Have to fix that problem first. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. Removed the park clutch arm from the 93 motor. But the a from the 99 is seized in place. Sprayed the arm with wd40 and tapped it softly. Applied more lithium grease and moved the arm by hand. Ran the motor and it parked properly. And now the motor works in all speeds again. So now it appears multifunction switch and wiper control module are okay. Thanks.
Thanks for your help. Replaced the wiper motor with a scrap yard motor from a 2000 MGM. Wiper works in all speeds. When it parks, the crank arm pin is facing towards the passenger side. So I attach the wiper linkage and the wiper blades force downwards into the plastic housing instead of sweeping upwards across the windshield. In the park position should the crank arm pin be facing the driver side as viewed from the front of engine? Thanks
Hello, thanks for the video. I have 2000 grand marquis. The wipers park straight up. Came across this video and thought, let me clean it up and see if that fixes it. It didn’t 😅. Then out of stupidity I thought, let me twist the whole assembly so that it’s in the proper park position, I’ll put the arm back on and it’ll work. It didn’t. It actually tore right through the soft metal of the clutch and didn’t turn at all. My question is, say I buy the new parts and replace it and the wipers still park up, could it be the motor that’s bad? The motor turns fine but when I turn the wipers off the motor keeps going until they’re straight up and then stops. Either way I’ll need a new park clutch but trying to figure out if I should replace the whole assembly. Thanks and sorry for the long comment.
I would guess that the clutch assembly would fix the issue, but they are getting harder to find. You can buy the entire motor assembly and remove the clutch to install on your motor though. It's a lot more work to replace the motor, but if you are buying one anyway, might as well do the whole thing.
My 99 has this problem in winter. Wipers try to move up but won't. I reverse into inclined driveway under car shelter. Water freezes in wiper compartment. Time to open it up, melt ice, clean out debris and weep holes.
They used to be on eBay all the time. I'm not sure anymore. The last time I looked I couldn't find one. You can buy the wiper motor and it will come with it, then just replace the clutch instead of the whole motor.
Looked at your video again and see where the crank shaft is pointing downwards towards the driver side. So I followed your instructions. Cleaned all parts and applied plenty of grease. And now the wipers park in the correct position. Thanks
Evan, thank you for the excellent video. I removed the wipers plastic cover from my 1996 Town Car. I wouldn't have believed there would've been so many leaves. I removed all the leaves and cleaned the housing. I couldn't manage to removed the parking clutch. I did use a whole can of WD-40 Penetrant with the flexible metal tube. The clutch finally freed up. Then I lubed it with the WD-40 Gel Lubricant. It's works like new money! I was about to order a new motor. I still may order a new motor just to have a spare. Right now I'm very happy. I had to go drive in the rain to use my wipers.😂 Thanks again!
Finally got the clutch off the 93 and onto the 99. Didn't work for me. According to wiring diagram there are two switches inside the motor. Power between common pin 5 and low speed pin 6 as well as high speed pin 7. Only high speed works.
If the wiper motor does not park correctly, could that explain why wiper only works on high speed on my 99 Grand Msrquis. Have spare motor with crank from 93 Grand Marquis but not same part number.
I have a 93 Crown Vic the windshield wiper motor it's not working I need to replace the whole summer how do I get that is the place I can order one of them
Definetly worth the try. Tried 93 multifunction switch(wiper 6pin side) as well as module from 55000k 93 without sucess. 93 motor has two connectors Leaning towards new motor for $100. In the meantime those Mercury Blues continue. Thanks
I have only found this on eBay, and knew the link wouldn't last forever unfortunately. Worst case you can buy the wiper motor and take this off of it, then keep the motor for another time (or replace the whole thing, which is a lot more work).
@@dmitryperliev4475 yeah I went back and watched it, you are right that it wasn't pointing the correct way, but that was because it wasn't parked. I think I probably turned the wiper motor on to test it before I "tested" it in that clip. It will only go together one way, and parks one way. Hope that helps!
Yeah unfortunately the last time I looked I couldn't find them either. You can order the wiper motor assembly (that comes with the parts for $40-60) and only use the parts I used. Keep the motor on the shelf in case you need it.
Be sure to try cleaning and lubing before spending any $$. Some times that fixes the issue!

Nice video. Ebay definitely comes in clutch sometimes. 3 Ah Ah Ah. 🤣. Thanks for sharing.
Everyone has moved towards the whole Amazon side. I still like eBay. Thanks for watching!
@@EvanWells07 You're welcome. It's all about savings for me plus an easy return if I need to but ebay is always on my list to search before I buy.

I noticed that on your 02 your oil fill is the opposite side of my 05.
Yeah depending on the year the moved some stuff around.
Hi, any idea where I can find this kit!?

@EvanWells07 I think I might have found a nos one on ebay but it's listed for a 69 galaxie, would it fit?
No idea, but I kind of doubt it due to the age difference.
👍

Not usually. The wiper speeds are a separate function from the park mechanism on these (unlike most other vehicles).

So the wiper motor doesn't work, or just the part I show in the video?

@@EvanWells07 I just bought the whole assembly and the new motor went out ! lol replacement number otw
My 05 hasn't done that yet so I will at the very least clean and lube it up. Thanks for the video!
Preventative maintenance will help it last even longer. The wear is what makes them fail, so doing that may keep it working forever!
@@EvanWells07 I posted a funny video today on cleaning out the leaves and stuff out of the drain holes....lol
Was it me, but just as you were sayin no way to install it incorrectly, you put it in the wrong way up? Next shot, trial run, you had it correctly?
Honestly it's been long enough since I made the video that I don't remember. I'd have to watch it back again to see what part you are talking about.
@@EvanWells07 The metal arrow tip that connects to the wiper arm is aiming down in the park position. I think you installed it aiming up :-)
