About the Festival:
Established in 1987, Melbourne International Comedy Festival (#MICF) is one of the three largest comedy festivals in the world, alongside Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Montreal's Just for Laughs Festival.

Alright, very small thing, but the "but... it wasn't." line at 1:30 is so impeccably delivered, it immediately jumped out at me

I watch her to make me feel better. As I expected everyone else to enjoy her performances I read the comments... and feel bad again as there are people out there who have a different humour... and are negative. I am so impressed how she delivers her message of diversity and the right to be different.

And then there are these long words, which could have been shorter but people were like Nah!!! We like it big!!!... Halfway through those words and I forget what I was talking about (Not really!!!)...

Durham is a lovely place. It's amazing for many reasons but here are just a few: it has the best food, is possibly the least homophobic city in the entire southeastern United States and most of us are not crazy.

The only thing I laughed at was "rural" as I have the same speech defect. The rest of it is pretty unoriginal stuff. Laughing at lizards and conspiracy theorists? As if that's never been done before. Laughing at gun toting Americans and their home armoury ? See the couple in Tremors and huge swathes of Rich Hall's material.

why is it that everyone that is an anti sjw treats humor as if it's some kind of objective thing, if you didn't laugh at the jokes, that's ok, I personally found myself only chuckling at some of them, not my favourite comic by far (I'd say bill burr is one of my favourites) but don't act like she's objectivelly not funny just because you personally don't find her funny.
She is objectively not funny. A bunch of SJWs in the audience who wish the world was some way have someone on stage tell them it is. This makes them laugh with relief from the discomfort of living in their delusion. For a few moments, their misapprehensions are justified. That is all. Not comedy, what is more, it is not genuine laughter, just a nervous reaction amplified in a kind of feedback loop by the proximity of a crowd.
so you can read their minds? she did tell jokes, maybe you don't like them but she did (in hindsight maybe the I'm waiting for the jokes comments are in reference to her recent comedy special which was more ted talk then comedy show but the point stands).

how do you determine that something is objectivelly unfunny to all people of honest minds? How do you seperate honest people that laugh honestly and those that laugh dishonestly?
If you tell me that you believe that her weight, haircut, attitude and outfit are suitable for a young lady, then you are either dishonest or delusional. Call it the Universe, call it the God/s, call it Mother Nature/ Darwin, whatever you like; it will not be fooled by a bow-tie and close-cropped hair.
The same applies to humour, there are universal truths, people's denial of them does not alter their existence.

I'm sorry to say but I don't find her funny. Sounded an awful lot like a laugh track.
I hated Nanette. Like, I really fucking hated Nanette. The first 10 minutes or so were okay, but it quickly became self righteous, preachy, and ultimately devoid of humor (by design). I also strongly disagree with some of her ideas espoused in Nanette. However if she would do comedy like this and like she did in the 10% of Nanette that was actually funny, I could actually see myself becoming a fan of hers. But the first impression I got from that "comedy" special Nanette was awful. I think I'll stick to Tig Notaro if I need my fill of lesbian comedy for now

Australian humour is often characterised as being quite dead-pan and subtle, I'm surprised she got popular in America cos Americans don't really "get" that kind of humour (see triggered comments section in every Hannah Gadsby video as of Nanette's Netflix debut).

I've been binging on Hannah since the Guardian wrote about her. I sent links to all my girlfriends. Until I came to this video. I come from NC and Durham is the most liberal anti-Trump town. Although I have lived in London for 20 years, I still googled Tasmania to see why she was still being a bigot.
I don't see the bigotry, and lots of places are very liberal in NC! I know some utterly fabulous, very religious and very anti Trump people. She was just taking the micky out of doomsday prepper conspiracy nuts, just because they happen to be gay does not make her a bigot, or are you saying she's bigoted against.... something else?
How can you not see bigotry? Her whole routine was about how provincial and culturally backwards Durham is, and how homophobic and violent rural people are. She talks about looking for housing with the specific intention of avoiding the homophobia that the audience is led to believe is an issue in Durham.
Now keep in mind that comedians make up everything, so her entire routine was a stereotype of rural white Americans being gun nuts who hate homosexuals. And even when they are homosexual, they hold conspiracy theories, prepare for doomsday, and give off a 'Deliverance' vibe.
+Jarful of Love her routine is not about mocking rural people for being homophobic and backwards, it's about mocking a specific pair of people she encountered in Durum who were (to use Hannah's term) "fruit and nut bars"
And her basis for saying that rural Tasmania can be homophobic is her own negative experience growing up there
