    I have been self-managing my portfolio for the past five years, and currently, with $150k in assets under management, I have underperformed for the past two years. This has got me worried as I am approaching retirement. Are there any ways to turn this around?

      To avoid tax complications, consult a financial advisor to restructure your portfolio rather than selling off assets.

      Absolutely! I was managing my own portfolio but suffered heavy losses in 2022. Realizing I couldn't continue that way, I consulted a fiduciary advisor. By restructuring and diversifying my $250k portfolio with dividend-paying stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, and REITs, I significantly boosted my portfolio, achieving an annualized gain of 25%.

      I'm glad i found this discussion. My portfolio hasn't performed well lately, and I'm considering seeking guidance from a financial advisor. How can I get in touch with the person who's been assisting you?

      I don't usually give recommendations online, but I've been working with Melissa Elise Robinson, and she is brilliant! I'm sure there are other great advisors out there too.

      It’s difficult because you have to navigate through a lot of B. S. But the truth is we have to figure things out for ourselves. No one is really going to help us or know how. Just put the effort into the little things like he said in this video and go from there.

      The best time to start investing is in your twenties, the second best time is now. I didn’t start getting financially healthy until I was 43. Started by getting out of debt for two years. Then started investing heavily. Probably won’t be a multi millionaire, but I’m a heck of a lot better off than when I started.

    Jaspreet, why is the Walmart family selling millions of stock since last year. Is there a reason for this?

    • @last9up
      @last9up 23 дні тому +3

      I'm guessing it's because stock is at an all time high and it is a good idea to take profit when you can.
      Note, they have enough money invested to not worry if stock goes higher or lower. They are playing the long game.

    Here in Brazil investiments with 10% of interests are easy to find, even in fixed income.
    We have the third biggest real (after inflation) interest rates in the world.

    Can't argue with this boring but believable advice. However, financial planners take a piece of the action, and when are you really rich enough to afford such advice? If you make a few mistakes along the way, you will become a more capable decision-maker on your own. Secondly, catastrophes happen. Job loss, family problems, market downturns, health and natural disasters. And, where does all this get you? This narrator has no clue. Keep it simple. If you want to get rich, take some risk early in your career. In retirement, risk is nauseating.
