Essay in CSS exams is the first exam, doing good in this exam gives a student enough confident to do well in other exams too. There are no recommended books for CSS essay paper. However, one can consult different sources to prepare the essay.
Essay is all about understanding a concept and penning it down in one's own words. It is also expressing and arguing one's position on a subject. A majority of applicants in CSS/PMS/PCS fail in English paper, particularly essay paper and remain unable to find out the factors that led to their failure. Here is a lecture from the class that elaborates different dimensions of essay writing. I do understand that the quality of the videos is not good enough as it was not made a professional; however, something is better than nothing.
