I finally was able to find Alocasia Scalprum locally (at a farmers market is Southern California). The nursery owner was shocked that I knew what it was, and showed me that one had a corm that produced a variegated leaf. Let’s hope it continues! He did not charge more for the one with variegation which was a nice surprise.
Love these videos! Would love to see how you modified your Exoterras into a greenhouse. I've seen them on marketplace and have been tempted to convert them.
I'm so happy that your Frydek has stopped putting out all white leaves! Mine does the same thing but is much younger than yours. Also, I agree with your theory about the root rot possibly being from less light. ❤
Beautiful leaves Charmaine 😍 I purchased a scalprum because I fell in love with yours and it is one of my very favorite alocasia now. It is super easy and mine does seem to size up very quickly. Granted I started with a plug a few months ago but it’s leaves have more than doubled in size.
I love my Alocasia scalprum. They are stunning. I’m going to be keeping a better eye out for spider mites now. I thought with the leathery leaves I might be safe. Wishful thinking I guess.
My Patriciae came with 5 leaves about the size of your new one, which all except one promptly died and fell off (despite being in 85% humidity) it’s sat there with one leaf for 7 maybe 8 months and this week finally it’s making another leaf, I was sure it was going to die.. but you’re not alone with that plant is my point 😆 ✌️
The award of Thai staying alive goes to drum roll…. Charmaine !! Yay!! It’s still good and going You and that Thai was plantestiny 🪴 I feel like you are going to get a nick sized Epi albo soon❤
Okay, my Patriciae isn't on a pole, and the leaves are double the size of yours - granted, I started with a 1-leaf-cutting from a VERY mature plant back in Feb 2022. I wonder if it would be even bigger if I gave it a pole... Hm. It's really easygoing for me, thankfully. However, it did not like the hot summer. The last leaf was much smaller, and it's ugly. Recently gave her some TLC, and she's looking much better. I will try to put her on a pole next spring. I think it doesn't like high temps.
is ur thai constellation just in ambient temp/humidity and normal light? i just got a baby from a plant store (first time i’ve seen them in a shop) and i’m nervy ….😅

I love hearing the stories on all these babies! Your epi is looking fire 🔥🔥🔥
Your plants are showing such growth because you take such good care of them. They grow big cause that’s it’s job.
I love esqueleto. They are so pretty and the fenestrations are beautiful
Great advice about poles. Beautiful new leaves. I’m so excited for you, your plants are looking amazing!
Great bunch of leaves. I’d be proud of them too. You’ve every right to be proud of them. It’s directly related to your care. 😊

I bought mine bc of her too! Mine is taking a while to pop off though. Maybe I have pests and don't know it.
Thanks to your video I got my own alocasia scalprum. I can't wait for my baby to grow more. She already has a tiny baby feaf with her mature shape 😭
Great update!

Seriously, the advice from Raychel about light with var. frydek is key, it seems!
I really like the scalprum. The leaves are really prehistoric looking.

Are you aware of how many times you used the word "like"? Gets annoying after a while.
