Is there s feedback loop available, some sensing that can tell the ucontroller whether the shaft is lagging behind expected position? Do motors offer positional feedback, or is that a separate attached sensor? Is parasitic sending of magnet position in motors done?

You can buy stepper motors with feedback. That can let the software know that the motor is missing steps. They just cost a little bit more.
