honestly, bleaching is the worse thing for thin hair, I destroyed my hair after bleaching it. The moment I stopped bleaching I noticed my hair was a zillion times more healthy and it actually started to grow.
They DEFINITELY DAMAGE your hair. I just took the keratin bonds out after 5 months. The matting, knots, and shedding are not worth it! 😭 NEVER 👎🏼 again!! It will be months to years before my hair is back to normal.
I had my first weave put in yesterday 19/9/2024. I'm 67 and my hair has got very thin. Can't wait to get this weave out it feels horrible and very uncomfortable.😢, it cost me £600 sterling.
Totally up to each person I personally love the longer hair even if it damages it 🤷🏼♀️ it’s hair I just like to have fun with it and worst case senerio I’ll just end up with short hair
Great vid Casey! I respect your opinions on the keratin and beaded wefts. I did years of tape in 'wefts' where I would just tape long wefts (machine wefts) into my hair. I absolutely loved it; easy to do and easy to take out. I just hate the messiness of tapes/glues. I would buy expensive hair and then feel so awful about putting tape on it. Hated having to wash my hair aggressively for the days following my removal. I prefer the keratin glue to the tape - less mess. Love the beaded weft too. Longer to install, but so awesome to wear since you can wash without worry of heavy conditoner/oils. I love that I can take care of my hair and grow it while doing the sew-in/beaded method.
I never thought about applying the tape to a long weft instead of the small wefts that they sell, but I feel the same way about the glue! The beaded-weft seem to be the least damaging to my hair and work well with taking them in and out when I have to get my hair bleached
I doooo love tape ins because they’re the only ones that don’t fall out! But they are more noticeable if you put them up high. I use them for a bit length and place them on the lower half of my head instead of up high
If you have thick and or curly hair i definitely recommend Krupa over beaded wefts, it looks a lot more natural and they are more versatile. Don’t get extensions unless you already have healthy hair!
I love extensions. I have been doing them for a year but they without a doubt damage your hair. I did beaded wefts first and that did the most damage. I had a friend that did them and had the same breakage problem. I’ve done my own tapes since and it’s not nearly as bad but there is still breakage. Talking about having to keep cutting is the reality. My hair has for sure lost thickness. I know some of it is because I am so used to extension thickness and that playing tricks on me. But I looked at some before photos and I can see the “fullness” has reduced.
I think our hair texture also goes in to play when it comes to choosing hair extensions methods. My hair is curly/ wavy course. I tend to ge knots in my hair on the daily since I was little due to my hair texture. I used clip ins for many years and decided to try the weft but my tender head was just not it. The wefts felt too heavy for me. I am currently on ktips and am combing my hair daily 2x braiding it at night using a satin pillow case but it seems still almost impossible to not get a knot at the root not because of the extension hair but my natural hair. So I’m very excited and sad but ready to take them out after just 3 months 😭 I probably will go back to clip ins
I personally am having a really bad experience with Keratin extensions. I’ve taken care of them as instructed and still after just a month, have lost so many bonds, and the hair itself loses so much volume. I’ve already become self conscious of blending. I’m switching to wefts. I think hair type has a lot to do with your choice as well. I have curly/oily hair and need to use heat on the scalp for styling. Heat isn’t advised on Keratin bonds, so I’m thinking that’s what’s causing issues. There’s a lot of slippage happening after a short period of time. Highly recommend avoiding Keratin bonds if you don’t have straight root/white hair.
I have no extensions and never had any but I just wanna say this. Your hair becomes worse with age. I’m 34 and my hair is nowhere close to what I had when I was 27.
I have curly/wavy hair and I’m very scared to do keratin. My mom is a professional hairdresser and she refuses to do keratin to me bc she’s says that it damages the hair really bad
I have k tips before and hand tied extensions. I would definitely say that the hand tied one damage your hair because of the tightness and of the weight. I felt that my hair was thin in that section when the weft would come off. I like the k tips because you can put your hair up, but the fact that you cant use any shampoo or products with oils in it really was a bummer for me because I feel like that helps make hair healthy. I never had any matting or knots with k tips before, I think it's because I brush my hair multiple times a day with special brush. Now, I just use halo extensions when I go out. Thinking about getting k tips soon for vacation though.
I had extansions for 10 years , all the time. Then i stopped and after 3 years my hair is sooo long and healthy . But i have fine hair, so rethinking after 7 years of to get just 50 for thickness …
YES! Please do tape ins and speak to your experience. I've only ever done tape ins and they lay so nice and flat on the head that I cant imagine going to a bead BUT beads are probably less damaging😬
I love that keratin last long. During the “rest” period, you could use clip-ins when you get that “itch” to put them in. I know you said you probably wouldn’t go back to keratin. But when you were using keratin did they ever like “melt” to each other? When I get hot the keratin bonds seem to “melt” together. Maybe I put them in to close?
I never had them melt together, but do you by chance use heat on them? If so I would make sure to only use the heat below the bonds since a straightener and curling iron will cause them to melt even if it is only for a few seconds
@@caseyelizabeth1930 yes. You are correct. I was watching the placement of how your sister put them in your hair. I also think I may have put them in to close together. I am putting them in today and I am going to try to place them further apart. ***side note*** Thank you for posting all your videos on hair extensions. I feel the same as you do. I can’t find many informative videos. All the good videos play music in the background and not explain what they are doing. Then I came across yours and it was more helpful.
Of course they damage ur hair av just put 3 bonds in and so far its pulled an snappted lil peaces then when taking it out some gets snappted too thers no avoiding breakage 😩
My hair is really long longer the the extensions in the salon but it feels so thin because im so used to the thickness of hair extensions I'm trying to go about 4 to 6 months before i mess with my hair again
Yes more hair in the micro links definitely helped! They still slip at times, but are thankfully super easy to fix. I am a competitive horseback rider so I’m pretty sure my helmet rubbing on the extensions causes the most issues. Also we changed up the placement to make them blend better thankfully! I hate cutting them 😂 I pay for those inches lol but totally understand it would make it blend better if I did
I am about a month into wearing cold fusion extensions for the first time. I tried the beaded weft for about 9 months. The reason I switched over to cold fusion bonds was for more of an equal distribution of the weight across my head. I only had 1 row of a beaded weft, but the weight of the extension hair was in that one row across my head and felt really heavy, which made me fear traction alopecia. At least with these cold fusion bonds, the weight of the hair is equally distributed, but I am SO scared when I take them out in 6 months that I will have knots and tangles.

100% it isn’t great for it but I just love my blonde hair so worth the damage to me 😂
Can you please do a video of how you get your curent hair colour to back to your natural hair colour ?
They DEFINITELY DAMAGE your hair. I just took the keratin bonds out after 5 months. The matting, knots, and shedding are not worth it! 😭 NEVER 👎🏼 again!! It will be months to years before my hair is back to normal.
Definitely some damage, however, I have only ever left them in for 3 months at a time to prevent matting and knots forming

Traction alopecia is real, and most extensions are damaging to the hair follicle. The sew in method is the safest and protects the hair.
It’s better to have short healthy hair than long damaged hair.
Totally up to each person I personally love the longer hair even if it damages it 🤷🏼♀️ it’s hair I just like to have fun with it and worst case senerio I’ll just end up with short hair
There is no right or wrong with this. Only personal preference.
