15:30, this is why XFX is the ultimate GPU AIB, since you simply can't beat the numbers of X they deliver with their products. I just wish they'd bring back their Triple X Crimson editions from the RX580 days for the Ultimate in Graphics card with something like a "XFX RX 9070 XT XXX Crimson Edition"
Yes I completely agree that 2K is 1920x1080 and that 2.5K is 2560x1440. The other one that I don't get is why people also call 2560x1440 "WQHD", when it is literally just "quad HD" or QHD.
@SamOnKBD wide quad high definition (4x 1280x720) is the widescreen denotion; the W is largely a hangover from the earlier days when everyone stuck "W" on products to indicate a widescreen aspect ratio. With the increase in non-rounded resolutions, the "industry" decided it was simpler to shorthand resolution using the thousandths number of the horizontal resolution instead of the vertical resolution as used for 480/576/720/1080. So we have 2K (2560), 4K UHD-1 (3840 domestic; 4096 DCI theatrical), 8K UHD-2 (7680) etc. this sort of makes sense now we have an increasing number of non-16:9 aspect displays, e.g. 3440x1440 UWQHD 3840x1080, 3840x1600) and all these weird phone panel resolutions. Nothing is perfect. I work in TV and we shorthand "4K" either as 2SI, quad link, 2110 or 12G SDI depending on the carrier medium: 1.5G SDI typically carries up to 1920x1080 interlaced; 3G can carry 50 or 60 Hz progressive 1920x1080, and the other technologies either interleave or tile 1920x1080 signals to accomplish higher resolutions. I wish people were more specific when describing resolutions, but then I also wish everyone only used the ISO date format. ;)
@@charliefoxglove44712K just means approximately 2000 wide. Wikipedia has the full listings of resolutions it can apply to. Main thing is that 2560 is not among them as it’s 2.5K. 7680 wide being called 8K not 7.5K is due to the original being captured at 8K with the excess removed to account for camera shake. So 2.5K, 3K, and 3.5K (3440) where there’s no original camera shenanigans still stand and are valid.
Thanks for being one of the few who actually care about your audience enough to ban the bots. It's much appreciated. I report them constantly due to "corn" links in the bio, but UA-cam doesn't seem to care.

12:07 Loneliness is so physiology damaging and taxing on the body it is actually a massive contributor to early death, especially among elderly people who are more likely to be isolated. It is up there with smoking in how harmful it is to the body, it's crazy regardless of your age. Research put the health impact of loneliness on an individual to about the same as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. There urgently needs to be more awareness about it. Seeing some people who suffer from loneliness grasp onto Ai bots to try to cope with it will be painful to see. There needs to be more outreach to people that feel lonely and desire more connection

Facebook is already close too dead internet theory in its current state. How much is just pushed content (ads, unfollowed community posts, reels, recommendations, marketplace, etc.) vs your friend’s posts?
I'll add a little caveat to the dead internet theory-Whenever I go onto Facebook and start scrolling through my friends list, a good percentage of accounts are from friends who passed away or have abandoned the platform. So going to Facebook is becoming more and more like going to a cemetery, with your old posts from 2012 engraved and etched on you Facebook Feed-the 21st century tombstone.
The bigger problem which I posted above is that YT reviewers are not ripping Nvidia a new asshole I mean to the point where they would lose sales. They really should get together and go after Nvidia. Any lost sale is a win for us.
So "Dead Internet Theory" is, in real-time, becoming less of a theory and more of a self-fulfilling prophecy. That wasn't on my Dystopian Present Bingo Card.

The goal of the social media bots I assume is to steer conversations and people towards what is beneficial for the advertiser. The bots themselves are the advertisers' tools and what they seem to want to achieve with AI is to disguise them as people.
They already succeeded at that for a while. Look at any social media comments section and there will be tons of bots, many of which no one will recognize. Plus, they're getting better and better at blending in.
They have no market to grow to, there's literally not enough people on earth for that. And the system designed such that if you don't grow you fail. So they decided to fake their users to mimic growth for the shareholders. Pathetic, actually, but scary if it goes too far
This. Though, with the massively declining use of the platform, this is probably a desperate attempt to make some money off the AI program that is causing meta to fail as a company.
Not only that, but politically motivated entities will also use that to create propaganda, or force "political fatigue" onto people that might be against their political ideas. Ever wondered why, on posts that didn't have any political meaning, there are a lot of "people" drumming up ideologies of different kinds around the first world country elections? That's generally what's happening right there. Before it was bot farms operated by people, now one person can just run 100s of accounts at once with AI. Not only is AI ruining whatever we can enjoy and the value of human creativity and information as a whole, it's actively used by bad actors and threats to manipulate sentiment across social media, or for advertisers to sell you the things you didn't need to begin with. The best thing to do nowadays is to absolutely block/report them if you can identify them as bots... But AI will now make that "distinction" much harder to ascertain., and social medias will make everything they can so you can't block their advertisers. It just sucks, and the tech bros will still chill for whatever multi-billionaire company that will let them make Will Smith eat some goofy pasta, and as long as there are no worldwide regulations about this (we can't even do this on the few countries that can reliably use the tech anyway), the damage caused, which some of it is already irreparable, is just going to pile up until something breaks. And let me tell you, it's not going to be these companies.
lol i take the dead internet theory serious and it has been a worry lately for me. i knew meta would do this, but i didn't think they'd do an official announcement and celebrate it like it's some kind of achievement for the betterment of humanity. it's why i left reddit. the rabbit hole for this whole bot thing is way deeper than i would have expected.
@ What Meta is trying to do is so profoundly stupid that it makes their whole VR Metaverse thing look brilliant in comparison. Zuck isn’t a smart guy, he just got lucky with one thing (which itself was derivative service); he’ll keep chasing boondoggles trying to remain relevant.
@@smakfu1375 No, not really stupid. By advertising it he basically invites (real) people to interact with the AI bots. In addition he will have unaware people who do the same. I doubt this is about reinvigorating his platforms, but to use real interactions with people as learning model for his AI. As fresh data for AI learning becomes more and more rare (at least in a usuable form) this is the next logical step. And he can sell this new data for a quite a lot of money.

My interest with the NZXT lawsuit is, will the people who endorsed the program be held accountable as well? Like, without a doubt, those influencers will have had an impact on some people's decision to rent one of those PCs, and they also spread the details of that program which turned out to not be true, meaning they also conducted false advertising.
It's just easier to go after the company being advertised instead of the influencers. The argument can be made that NZXT allowed them to false advertise since they did nothing to bring down the advertisements.
Yes but you then have to prove the influencers were knowingly participating in false advertising. Which is difficult to do in a meaningful way in a court of law. Much easier to point to the company and go "you knew these were lies and you did nothing" or even "you clearly told them to say this".
2.5k is actually a good update in naming convention that has been catching on for laptops. It is more detailed than simply rounding to 2k or 3k, and since peope already call both 1080p and 1440p 2k this would fix that issue. Also because it is horizontal res and laptops tend to always be 16:9 or 16:10 these days, it tells you the resolution that will not vary based on aspect ratio.

What's the point of having an internet if every piece of infrastructure, hardware, and software only exists to allow brands to commission bots to promote content to other bots? Why even bother going online at all? Wasn't the whole point of the internet to allow for humans to share information and entertainment with other humans?
that was the point or ideal. but even before mass bots the internet was problematic of "socializing". ever since geocities its just human nature not translating into it well fully, now its capitalism going full out with the tech itself that is also being harmful. more and more its becoming apparent the way current internet is operating its becoming a net negative, at least on these corpos websites. cause while geocities was flawed, at least it wasnt as divisive.
GeoCities is so old that people currently in their 20s probably never knew about it, but at its core it was centralized servers owned by a business that allowed you to host a free web page.
I would like more Intel Arc B580 tests on old/low end CPUs (After CES ofc). People have been pointing out that performance takes a big hit on lower performance CPUs, which probably would defeat the point for it to be a budget option.
Hardware unboxed did some testing I think that for someone looking to build a new budget build it should be fine. Go with a 12100 or something, there are budget new options around
Yeah I think it's time we stopped pretending to be surprised that brand new GPUs are bottlenecked by 8 to 10 year old CPUs like the 2600k. Its time to let them rest. If someone is still running those platforms then nothing new is going to be an upgrade, anyway.
@Kris-od3sjI thought the issue was CPU load, not supporting ReBar? So the older CPU’s dropped performance by a significant percentage. Something like 30%? Hardware unboxed did some testing with Zen processors.

3000 series was the last good GPU series Nvidia did. They’re going to keep inflating the prices because people are going to dump money on subpar products.
I'm slightly optimistic about AMD this gen. If the rumors are to be believed they have fixed the RT performance deficit (not that I personally care) and FSR is getting a machine learning variant.
That rumor of amd fixing their ray tracing has been around since they have been behind. They have not once gotten close to it Even upscaling they are nowhere near but the fact you can use FSR on most cards today is the only "real" thing they have going on.
except when the company paying for ads realizes they get a ton of clicks and nobody is buying anything, it all collapses into nothing, because nobody is gonna pay to advertize to bots.
Since AMD isn't going to compete against anything higher than the 5070 (maaaybe 5070Ti if Nvidia shoots themselves in the foot with greedy segmentation) I can guarantee you that the 5080 wont be a flop no matter how expensive it is. 2.5K is perfectly reasonable as people often mistake 2560 as 2K, when in fact 1920 is 2K.
I wish people were more specific when describing resolutions, but then I also wish everyone only used the ISO date format. ;)
@SamOnKBDthe wqhd vs qhd thing is what happens when you let marketing people attempt to use technical specs.
Unless it's DCI 2K which is 2048 x 1080
@@charliefoxglove44712K just means approximately 2000 wide. Wikipedia has the full listings of resolutions it can apply to. Main thing is that 2560 is not among them as it’s 2.5K. 7680 wide being called 8K not 7.5K is due to the original being captured at 8K with the excess removed to account for camera shake. So 2.5K, 3K, and 3.5K (3440) where there’s no original camera shenanigans still stand and are valid.

Steve, good job to you and your team for exposing NZXT. Companies like them need to be exposed.
The goal of the social media bots I assume is to steer conversations and people towards what is beneficial for the advertiser. The bots themselves are the advertisers' tools and what they seem to want to achieve with AI is to disguise them as people.
The sooner everyone gets off META/FB the better.
Meta is attempting to one up the NFT scammers, from a few years back, by making Dead Internet Theory their business model.
lol i take the dead internet theory serious and it has been a worry lately for me. i knew meta would do this, but i didn't think they'd do an official announcement and celebrate it like it's some kind of achievement for the betterment of humanity. it's why i left reddit. the rabbit hole for this whole bot thing is way deeper than i would have expected.

The world would be a much better place if influencers were held responsible for the products they choose to push.
@@ria.ethyria I agree in sentiment, but in practice this is tough.

Yeah I think it's time we stopped pretending to be surprised that brand new GPUs are bottlenecked by 8 to 10 year old CPUs like the 2600k. Its time to let them rest. If someone is still running those platforms then nothing new is going to be an upgrade, anyway.
