You are wrong on several counts. The original chuck is for hand impact drills, not for bench drills. That red locking ring some times gets stuck, some times accidentally release the drill bit, and always difficult to get a good grip with, so it is garbage, as I explained in my video: ua-cam.com/video/nCqVoaGVK8g/v-deo.html Yes, the machine becomes much better after changing the chuck, and if your 8 mm threaded pin can't be inserted into a wood when you drill an 8 mm hole than your drill is crap or worn out and you should buy new and better quality. The other thing is the head wobble, which you comment like it's not a problem, but it is. It may not be a problem for you, but it is not something which is good at all. I explain that in my last video about the PBD 40: ua-cam.com/video/3IsRIDdp05o/v-deo.html The machine is now sold because of the wobble. It is not acceptable for a machine head to wobble, especially since this is not a cheap machine at all. By the way, you must have used your machine very little during the four years, since there is hardly any marks on it. But generally I agree, the machine is nice. I would have kept mine if the machine head wobble was fixable, or would have bought a new if the new ones had better quality.
at least its not chuck for lathes. :D Well I guess we all require different degree of precision, just don't expect portable bench drill to perform as 10K worth milling machine. And by the way after you fix shaft you realize that most of the problems are gone, and movement of a head wasn't such a big contributor after all.
