      Woodynic Yeah, I might unsub after his recent harangue against Christianity. He actually called the Old Testament blasphemous and said he speaks for God. I left a few comments, but I couldn’t watch all the video rants. I overlooked his goofy religious beliefs because his regular content is pretty funny, but he’s really losing the plot.

      Man, i can't find a single Orthodox Church online (Antiochan official website, Greek Orthodox in America) that actually supports the Correct Genesis interpretation of Father Rose and Jay...
      Is it one of those things where the layity believe as Rose (and the Fathers did) does but not the Patriarchs?

    Genesis, Creation and Early Man was a game changer for me. Seems to me that once you understand Genesis from the traditional patristic Orthodox perspective everything else falls into place.
    I used to reflect on how close God felt when I could just accept that both the drama of the Garden , Golgotha and our own lives are only separated by a a few thousand years and not millions.
    Oh, and the St. Symeon the New Theologian book "The First Created Man" has been a staple on my bookshelf for years. It's awesome.
    Thanks for all this Jay. Thanks for teaching a no nonsense patristic view of Genesis.

    I made my scientist friend super mad because I said religion and most science is faith based. Basically it takes the same amount of faith to believe that in the begining something came from nothing like( big bang) as the belief that a being created heaven and earth. Boy, was she mad. My reasoning is that the majority of people cant or dont have the time to conduct these experiments so they just take their word for it and hope that these experts are honest.

So my question would be how is it a literal 24 hour day that occurs before the sun and moon are even created? Question I though of recently: If man eating animals didn’t come till after the Flood, was Abel a sheep herder specifically for clothes/wool? That’s the only thing I can think of. Maybe dairy was a reason too...?

    • @ImTakinMeFishin
      @ImTakinMeFishin 5 років тому +1

      Luis Biel I think it comes from the fact that the Lord first gave the command to eat meat only after the earth was flooded.
      It could also be that Abel just tended sheep, simply because he was a steward of the land, and the sheep needed a Shepard.

    40 mins in you talk about how the whole world uses Genesis for the 7 day week but isn't it true that Genesis borrows from astrological patterns that ancient people followed to create the 365 day calendar year, 24 hour day, 7 day week etc. You see this everywhere in ancient cultures. Obviously looking at the heavens and studying patterns is an ancient past time
    not disputing you just making the point of how our natural order is tied into the scripture
