- On this episode of Classic Are Better, I finally get a car hauler!! I have to rescue it from the woods where it has been sitting since the early 2000s and get it ready for the road. Plan is to rehab and restore this old 1992 Eagle Trailer into my main car hauler for future projects.
It definitely needs some TLC, and it is going to take a lot of work, but I am excited to bring it back to life vs going out and buying a new trailer. Plus this way with the money I save, I can actually afford to get a good winch and new straps etc soon, to make hauling that much easier.
Please watch as I pull this trailer out of the woods, paint it, fix it, get new tires, stain the deck, and get it ready to get back on the road and working.
*** Make sure you watch part 2 as well, where I add all the goodies on!!
Thank you all for watching and supporting the channel. If your able please help a car guy out and click that like & subscribe button. I appreciate yall!

super nice trailer...........nice work.
Thank you, I appreciate you watching!
Looks good. Check the bearings and use it.
Thanks for watching! I will say that the "rust" proofing spray paint hasn't held up so well, but I also didn't primer it. I will probably redo with a bedliner type product soon.
Great job Sir .....👏
Thanks man! I appreciate you watching.
Great job. I'm jealous. Nice to see the video of the process after the Instagram photos!
Thanks man, so happy to finally have my own car hauler. Now just need a winch, tool box, and some fresh straps!
When I’m treating deck wood I use old motor oil and gasoline mix to seal the wood
That is good advice! I have a buddy that does something similar with old diesel and oil, I may have to try that on the next one. Thank you for watching.
Nice job 👍🏽
Thanks man, and thanks for watching!
brb. checking my shrubs for spare corvairs...
haha yea that will be a fun one to pull out
Hey man, cool trailer. Super curious what do you need to be able to haul a car on a trailer legal wise ?
Thanks for watching. Not sure what state your in, but here in TX your trailer has to be tagged, have working electronics, and not be a hazard to other drivers. Vehicles need to be strapped down well of course, but I don't know of any legal rules unless you start hauling commercially. Your local DPS website should tell you.
@@CLASSICSAREBETTER aquired an 1999 lil parker utility trailer ,was abandoned ,vin and model sticker visible, last 4 of vin welded in frame. i basically done same thing you done to it. im in ohio. how does one get tag? do just need weights slip
@@bestblackoutvideos On this trailer I was finally able to find the original title for it and had it transferred to my name. I would look into just getting a bonded title for it, cost a couple hundred bucks which sucks, but then it's yours free and clear with a good title.
What is the front thing where the tool box is going to go its like a tow hitch welded in the front is that a tire mount for a spare curious about that front piece
It is a hitch receiver that the previous owner had welded on (backwards). I drilled a new hole and it is a little high for a wench, but it works fine so far.
@@CLASSICSAREBETTER k I got it thanks for the information and for the response
about how many cans did you use to paint it black?
It took approx 4 cans. Thanks for watching!
you lost me at pocket hole screws
Google "Kreg Pocket Hole Jig", super handy tool. I use it a lot when making wood projects. Thank you for watching!
I thought that floor was rotted before you washed it.
Me too! I was so glad I only had to patch that one small section.
That was a new trailer to start !
Thank you for watching, old girl is from 1991 lol
Trailer came out clean man. Gonna need to see that tree Corvair. Wonder if its any better than the other two.
Thanks man, took a lot of work to bring it back. I'm curious about that one too, I asked the inlaws and supposedly it was the best one, like it was the last one running. Maybe I can turn three into one decent one lol.
What are the dimensions?
Its 18.5ft long and 6"10 wide.
What did you do to restore the trailer's lights and brakes or did it not have any brakes?
So on the truck I had when I shot this video the electric on the truck's hitch didn't work so didn't matter. Since then I have checked the brakes and bearings which were good, but I need to replace the light wiring, it only works 80% of the time lol.
I'm working on a similar project now. Did you have to do anything to the wheel bearings?
Hey thanks for watching, luckily my wheel bearings were just fine, still seem good, the trailer brakes on the other hand could use some love.
Did you go through the hubs and breaks?
I have since I shot this video, luckily everything was in decent shape. Thank you for watching.
That is seriously an amazing job!
Thank you very much!
Excellent and very clean job..bravo Travis
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Great job on the trailer !
Thank you! In part two I trick it out with goodies.
How heavy is that trailer?
Not totally sure, I think it's approx 2k lbs. It has a six inch frame so it's pretty heavy.
@@CLASSICSAREBETTERhey man I just picked up a trailer and I’m trying to figure out if I needs new axles. My axles drive straight down the road but have a some camber when turning while the jeep Is on the trailer. Does yours do that while turning?
@@moejr14 luckily mine doesn't do that, sounds like the axle bearings are shot and giving you too much play under load. I would look into replacing them, not sure on a trailer, but on my C10 the bearing were only like $12 each or so. A lot better than having a wheel pop off with a load on the trailer! Best of luck.
Wheel bearings??
The ones on the trailer didn't give me any issues so I left them, but I would definitely check them out if you find an old trailer.
@@CLASSICSAREBETTER yes, no trouble until they do, then too late. Perhaps try be proactive on an old trailer
I found something similar to that but don't know what it's for
VERY NICE FROM FRANCE🗼
Merci!
The stain again please
Hi Peter, it was Ready Seal "Redwood" exterior wood stain. Got it at Home Depot. Good luck on your project!
@CLASSICS ARE BETTER thks was going to burn them first then stain 2x6x8
Sweet truck bro I like the step side
Thanks man! I definitely prefer the steppers myself.
Maybe next time check inner and outer bearings?
Definitely a good point, pulling this one home I didn't hear anything so I didn't worry about them, but yes if they made noise I would advise addressing them! Thank you for watching.
