It sucks to be born in 1999, but at least I found this wonderful show, not a lot of kids my age watch old shows, todays TV shows are mostly garbage, back in the day they put heart and soul in these shows.
@@josesalas430 Yes, this show is super awesome. So are The Dick Van Dyke show, the Andy Griffith show, the Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, Perry Mason. These shows are so so great and safe. (I know there are other good shows)
3RCPro-life-semper1 M I also watch Mr. Ed, the talking horse, and many others. They are really wonderful. I’ll will make sure to save as many classic shows till I’m old.
@@josesalas430 Oh yes, we definitely need to hold on to these classic goodies. It would be awesome if channels could just play all the good shows instead of the stinky ones. I don't think I've heard of Mr. Ed. Can it be found on UA-cam?
So glad this was posted. I was geeky over Patty Duke back in the day. I’ve been wanting to hear this song again for over 50 years. It’s been in my head for that long! Thanks.
Actually it's more copyright than plagiarism. I would think the person that wrote the poem would just share the credit with cathy. Better that they both make money than not at all.
It's funny! This show came about because Sidney Sheldon noticed Patty Duke was bipolar and had two very distinct personalities depending on her mood. To him, it was as though she was identical cousins of herself. Get it? The Patty Duke Show was born.
I've always believed that the "Cathy" character was Patty Duke's alter ego. "Patty and Cathy" even had different dressing rooms during rehearsals. The first 2 seasons reflected a real "Cathy" persona. But in the final season that character was practically obliterated with "Cathy" missing from about 4 episodes. And often Patty's characteristics spilled over into "Cathy's" character b'cos Patty Duke had escaped the clutches of her controlling aunt and uncle, and was married in real life. So she was free to be 💯% Patty.
Warhol's Circus: That's odd that Sidney Sheldon noticed Patty Duke was bipolar in 1960-something; The term bipolar disorder was first introduced during the third revision of the DSM *in 1980.*
I was so sad to hear Patty passed away this Jan last week 2023 ,it wasn't that long ago that her real life husband John Astin just passed couple yrs ago at most and they 2 had quite popular celeb kids and Sean was a such young snart cute kid and had a popular teenager following, he had some great kid teen movies I mean remember his goonies , toy soldiers , white river, others I'm forgetting but he didn't do any favors by acting on the movie about the guard soldiers in Iraq military prison ABU grade sumthing like that but just showed he can go off out of characters of his normal funny movies he had usually done. Like he done with Adam Sandler, was that drew Barrymore movie playing muscle bound brother to Drew I think ?anyhow His mom was much beloved , and one played her dad on shoe was a much popular character actor on several movies other TV series he's always popping up he was the teacher or principal in "Teachers" the movie with "Nick Nolte " kid Ralph Macchio from karate kid on it. So it's a passing of legends now ,, and just last 2 days another Black & white TV series Adam's Fsmily the little girl Wendy just now passed away she was cutest for strange family but great acting from Newbies like Wendy character ! The look in John Astins face them eyes get real big ,and he adlibbed' Hammed it up a lot, and Carolyn jones under play it just enough but was Cool as a cucumber ad she just give that deadpan look or A ridiculous look either one?
Interesting that Patty Duke is presented with the idea that the money she earned as a child should be set aside for use when she gets older. That sounds like a good idea, don’t you think? To bad it didn’t work out in real life!!
I fell in love with Patty Duke because of this show. ❤
You and me both, my Boomer Brother!
I love this episode and the song has stayed in my mind for many years...hauntingly beautiful🎶🎶🎵🔮
This song makes me cry knowing that I will never be able to go back in time and meet the cast, life looked better back then.
i was 7 yrs old when this show aired and believe me life was a whole lot better back then a whole lot better !!!!!

OMG... I thought Jimmy Dean was just some guy who was into sausage.
He had a #1 hit in 1961--BIG BAD JOHN.
Hiliarous😊☃
OMG it's Laverne's Father in Laverne & Shirley (guy with glasses)
Phil Foster (Frank DeFazio, LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY).
What timestamp?
@17:49...that is the biggest goof I've seen on the Patty Duke Show, where the stand-in's face for "Patty & Cathy" is clearly shown.
Her name is Rita McLaughlin. There are pictures of her on the net in her Patty/Cathy garb.
there are many times through out the series where she shows her face accidentally
zynjan agreed☃
tdell1275 that's true😊

Not according to Sheldon in his autobiography. He already had the concept--Walt Disney's twin movie with Haley Mills.

Are the poet and his poem real? Do they really exist?
3RCPro-life-semper1 M unfortunately not, the show writers created it.
So then if someone were to write the lyrics and send it in somewhere as a poem, it wouldn't be considered plagerism?
