I could cry right now . I am 10 mins into this message and I hear the truth after “being a Christian “ for over 20 years, having
been taught the gospel is about love.

Tragically this teaching would be prohibited in many churches today. Nickels & Noses, that’s what most churches are interested in.

The entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation is COMPLETELY about the love of God.
The way Adam and Eve were chastened and not killed when they sinned (whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth), the way Enoch was translated that he should not see death, the very act of creation itself, the way that Noah was spared the wrath of God, the way that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were called friends of God and blessed all the days of their lives, the way the children of Israel were spared the death by famine by going into Egypt, the way God saved them out of Egypt and executed vengeance on their persecutors, and on and on and on. Every single story from the old testament to the new testament is a story of love; because they are all stories about God, and God IS love.
The whole of the word of God is about his love.

Thank you for pointing me to that. I didn't however write the previous post because I thought he was saying God doesn't love us, but rather because he said the primary message of the old testament was not the love of God.
Every sacrifice or offering for sin under the law, every thing God has ever done, is done in love. He gives a way to recieve forgiveness, both under the law and under grace; all for his love for us. The reason any of us still lives is because of God's love for us. And I was posting to draw attention to God's love throughout the whole old testament. Don't get me wrong, I very much am blessed by Pastor Bill's sermons; I just heard some things in this one that troubled me. Such as around 36:00 (possibly a bit after) when he mentions rejoicing when the wicked die. It is written:
      Proverbs 24:17-18
17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
18 Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
      And more importantly:
      Ezekiel 33:11
Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
If God does not rejoice when the wicked die, should we? If God took no pleasure in the death of Osama Bin Laden, should we? All it has done is placed him beyond repentance, are we to rejoice over the damnation of souls? I just heard too much that was unscriptural, and as Jesus told us "a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump" Galatians 5:9
He preaches very well, and by the book, but it is written
"Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour."
      Ecclesiastes 10:1
Thank you for your helpful post though. God bless you.

@@ryanalving3785 That is the scripture I thought of when he mentioned about Gaddafi and Hitler, rather rejoice that they can no longer perpetuate the wickedness they did. That said, apparently the Christians were safer in Libya when he was around than they are now. I couldn't confirm that though. God bless, Rosie Higgs

Ryan, I heard one other very well known Pastor say that he was really going to enjoy when the wicked are thrown into the lake of fire forever. He said he hoped for a front row seat and grinned and rubbed his hands together. I reminded him that his own Father was an Arab who had not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Did he really want to revel in watching that happen to his own Dad?
He never brought it up again.
How sad to have that mindset.

It is an unfortunately easy trap to fall into, and I do find that at times it is a struggle not to feel happy when certain people fall into misfortune.
      Galatians 6:1
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
It is a very fine balance when trying to correct another person, and I must admit I very often don't feel good after having done so. I turn it over and over in my head; was I too harsh? Am I guilty of the same? Should I even have said anything at all?
Definitely not something I really like doing if I can avoid it.

We also shouldn’t forget that Christ died so that we could attain to the righteousness of the Law as stated in Rom. 8:1-4. God sent His Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to condemn sin in the flesh that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us.
    Rev. 22:14-15
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolators, and whosoever loves and makes a lie.
    Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
Now all has been heard, here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the duty of mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing whether it is good or evil.
    Psalm 103:17-18
But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear Him, and His righteousness unto children’s children; to such as keep His covenant, and to those that remember His commandments to do them.
Didn’t want anyone to miss these scriptures! Much peace to all in Jesus/Yahshua’s name 💕

This sermon touches a nerve that most flakey "soft gospel" so called conservative Christians don't want it to. God showed His love to us (let me repeat that - God SHOWED His LOVE to US) in that while we were still SINNERS Christ DIED for us! Rom 5:8. It's all about the centrality of the cross. In that Ron 5:8 His love was "synistemi" in Greek which means to show, prove, establish, and demonstrate. The cross (a requirement of a body and blood sacrifice) was for the purpose of righteousness; namely God's righteousness. Once sin was atoned for the curtain tore in two opening up the access to a loving relationship between God and all people in the world. We enter That relationship clothed in Christ's own righteousness. That day on Calvary may have happened, but prior to that it was foreshadowed and foreseen in the OT, and it is (as Bill says in this sermon) an eternal act of God's love. The cross spans time itself. This is part of what the apostle Paul refers to as the mystery in previous generations. Moreover, the eternal power of God's love is manifest in the body which Jesus now lives in. For he bears the scars forever - one righteous act, one amazing demonstration of love echoed forever! Wow and Amen!

My dear friend, our problem is that we think of actions as being things...love and truth in action are expressed as mercy. We need to look at the actions of Yeshua as Yaweh in action, not as a thing we possess, but how we express the character of the Spirit of Yaweh in our character....our living obedience to the Truth is our true Love and is the Express Image of His Presence in Us.......YeshuaShalom. Shalom, birdsongz.
