Oh my gosh this video is amazing. I got goosebumps. I can't say enough about this family and their dedication for the ancestors. They put all of money into this cemetery and I thank you
WOW! Kudos to this young LADY for caring & having the resources, doing all the hard work to document her family cemetery. May many blessings flow to her from our Heavenly Father.
Great video Robert!! Thankyou Joy and Dan for allowing us to visit this cemetery. A beautifully well kept place that is full of very interesting history. The people who rest there will certainly be at Rest In Peace. God bless you all.
It is amazing! It takes a lot of love and dedication to take care of a family cemetery. It is the best way to reach back in time in gratitude of who you are. A beautiful job! The monument makes me feel like they know she cares and they are happy and not so sad being lost to time, like so many you have visited - (just how I think). Interesting details, burial techniques and the divining rod, which I had never heard of. Great! 👍👍❣️❣️
Well done Joy! Our family has always spent a great deal of time in our family cemetery, even as small children. We help care for it also. Much respect to you and your efforts. I bet your ancestors would be so proud of you!
Absolutely beautiful cemetery & family history. It’s such a treasure that the property is in the family’s hands after 180+ years. Thank you for putting this video together & sharing it with us.
I so enjoyed this visit. When my grandmother died in 1975 she was buried in the Baltimore National Cemetery in Baltimore, MD - on top of my grandfather who died in 1940 - in viewing the dug grave I noticed that it was lined with bricks and until today didn't know why.
Great work!! I'm the 4th great-grandchild of one of the first families who came from Scotland in the early 1800s and I have ancestors buried on original land close by. All they have are cement markers with handwritten names and dates. Her hard work has given me the inspiration to honor my family the same way. Bless you!!
That's nice to see land staying in a family that long, and a cemetery being taken care of. Up until recently we had property and a house that belonged to our Great Grandparents from about the same time period. Unfortunately after our Great Aunt having Alzheimer's, there isn't anybody with the means, or interest to take care of the house, so the family ended up selling it.
What a great job Joy is doing! Truly a labor of love and a tribute to her family. This cemetery is protected from tree damage and overgrown weeds and briars. Thank you for sharing the Storey- McDaniel family cemetery.
Joy’s comment about indoor plumbing was interesting! My grandmother lived in a very old home outside of Pittsburgh PA. I can remember visiting her in the late ‘60’s, and walking outside, down a covered stretch of porch to the back of the house where an enclosed room held a rudimentary toilet seat (no sink!). I’ve often wondered if that was formerly an outhouse that someone decided to link to the house via the porch. What a wonderful legacy she has left for future generations!❤
I’m speechless. My comment wouldn’t do just justice to this great video. All I can say is my heart is so full to see a cemetery being so well loved n cared for. This history is awesome. Thank you Robert for sharing this. ♥️😊👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thanks Joy & Robert & Dan for sharing the history of this family cemetery, which I'm sure helps other people how to restore their own family cemetery. And that family monument is fantastic too! When my mother's sister Hazel Phillips Cooper died in 1965 in Barrow Co, Georgia, her family was using well water that was brought up using a bucket & was still using an out house. She is buried at White Plains Baptist Church In Jackson Co, GA between Jefferson & Braselton. All of my mother's 5 sisters are buried there, but her two brothers are else where. Their parents & grandparents(Phillips) are there too, along with a multitude of other relatives. I was just going to tell about the well water & out house & then got carried away.
So many cemeteries that need this! I have worked on rescuing several field stones and even marked head stones, that were being consumed by the earth. So much work to do. GREAT JOB and thank you!!!
This family history is so interesting! I love that they have a civil war vet in their family and he's buried there. I also have a distant relative in the graveyard I have a plot in that's a civil war vet. He was my Great Aunt Clyda's father-in-law. Levi Burras, b.1844 d.1911. Ironically in 2011 I dug down a little on his grave stone as it had about 5" of debris from 100 years of leaves etc falling, that's when I discovered his service when it said, Company B of the 21st Michigan Inf. Joined 9/11/1862 shipped out 9/12 1862 for Kentucky. Exactly 161 years today. and I found it 100 years after he was buried! My Dad said he came to this area when he was 15 years old and all he had was an axe. (1859) I researched some of his service and he did serve as an "engineer" Building corduroy roads, bridges etc. As he was a logger at 18 in 1862.
Wow what a beautiful family cemetery and well loved honored and restored. Wish all the family plots were so loving looked after not to the expense of this one but just weeded mowed and fence repaired 😢😢😢 thank you guys for doing your part to find these grave sites cemeteries and documents on these forgotten and lost resting grounds 🥰🥰🥰 blessings to all.
What a wonderful thing to do. My Y Barbo family graveyard in Texas needs this done. Unfortunately, there are hardly anyone left to help me and fewer relatives who care.
I think this young lady has shown a lot of love and respect for her family. She has done a awesome job. Thank you for sharing this video. There's a lot to be learned here. Getting to know your family. Was she related to the Jimmy Carter's
Great video! The elementary school I went to years ago. actually had a graveyard almost right on the playground. I remember we was playing ball one time and I kicked the ball and a friend ran after it and he tripped over a gravestone.
This was such a great video Robert! And I’m glad you didn’t edit it out… Mr. Dans face had me 😂😂😂 It’s so nice to see that they are able to take such good care of their family cemetery. And the history was so fun to hear!
I am from Ohio and now live in Indiana. Our graves only have head stones. We do not use slabs. I've enjoyed learning how things were and are done down South. You have so much history in your neck of the woods.
Thank you for sharing. This is so interesting. My ancestors are all scattered in various States in Australia and I have some in Canada and England. I love this channel, it's so inspiring.
I have watched a local "diviner" do this over a grave that my husband and I wondered about. He said that yes, there was someone buried there and that it was a male. It's quite interesting to watch. This fella used to be the cemetery maintenance man, both as the grave digger and he also did the mowing. His father had also been a grave diviner.
I remember going to my grandparents home in the early 50s and their bathroom was an enclosure on the porch. It was later moved inside. There was also an old outhouse in the side yard.
It's amazing there are so many of a family in one place. Try to imagine their personalities, interests, likes, dislikes, mindsets, health issues, hopes and more. I know I am English, Welsh, Irish and noticed that on my Grandmother's side, it goes back to the 1850's on record, but I wish I knew more. I live near 'Toronto, Canada'. My family are resting in various places (Eastern and Western Ontario, Alberta). I wonder if anyone is related overseas? Your family would be proud of what you have done. I like your lovely accent too.
This was a very interesting and informative video. I am glad that Joy was there to tell about the cemetery, house and history. As always, it was great to have Dan and Robert there together to provide additional interesting information. I am curious as to whether or not there will be future burials in the cemetery.
This was a very interesting video. It is wonderful that she has gathered so much information. I was so impressed by how she listed all the relatives that were buried in the family cemetery.
Thanks to Joy for inviting Dan and myself out to visit her family property and cemetery!

Ooh, will you do a video about the house? It looks like it could be very interesting.
Great job, cemeteries are America's sacred history and heritage.

Wonderful job I really like the work you and the family have done with your family cemetery.
Interesting family history, great restoration!
Very cool. My family tree is very very old in Europe. All forgotten...the young ones don't care one iota. 😮
