Cheers cob! Our dongles that we've had for 13 years finally gave up the ghost and we had to go to the bank to get the new 'app'. After watching this, I was able to replace the batteries and I'm back up and running for another 13 more! Much obliged :)
I think that they should block themselves when the battery dies (or replaced), also even if the item is opened. Anyway, the code probably is desynchronized after the replacement, so it is useless.
@@tardwrangler For security. To avoid tampering, cloning or reverse engineering the algorithm that it generates. The token is desyncronized because without energy the internal clock of the device stops and it no longer knows the synchronized time, so the number it gives is rejected on the authentication procedure. Mine got desynchronized (but not power empty) so the customer service had to resynchronize it (giving some numbers it was generating).
Mr. backofficeshow. I've got a jamsswell 360 controller with a dongle, the dongle can't be paired with any other controller. do you know any way around this?
@@backofficeshow I wouldn't know where or how to start, baking is my strong suit.I guess amazon is my next stop. Well thank you for the reply, if you ever need a scone or a bread recipe I'm your guy.
I used to have a calculator that generated random numbers for authorising cheques at work in the late 90s. It looked like a calc with a red button. The cheque system threw out a number that you put in the calc and pressed the button. It would generate another number that you responded with. Get it right and it would let you into cheque signing.
The Backoffice There might well have pin a pin too as we were all assigned our own device. Sadly, has been cruel on my memory of this particular piece of kit.

Why?

Mine ran out of battery. I managed to put a new battery in it but it just lit up all LCD crystals? To have 88888888. Can it be reset from the 6 pins?
I have the same issue. Were you eventually able to get it to work?
Hi!!! Anybody knows if reprogramming code key is possible?? Thanks.

Not really, unless you want to reverse engineer it for curiosity.

Mmmmm scones!
More infos about those 6 (debug? chipwrite?) access PINs could be interesting.
Nice. Saved myself 10.67 GBP by replacing the battery

+Mark Sharples the new one is like carrying around a calculator, one you would have killed for in the 80s!

+Mark Sharples That must have been a precursor to their current dongles. Although they have the added element of a pin as well
