    I always get such helpful tidbits from your videos. My hubs is always telling me to set up a table and pull things out to sort them. In my head it was too overwhelming. I’m doing a project of reorganizing in my room. Moving books to one bookcase and filling shelves with stamps and dies. I’m so glad to see you set up a table and work it into sections. I don’t feel as overwhelmed by the thought of it anymore. Let’s say we won’t be going after that project for awhile though. Temps are well up into the 90s with no A/C in that room. It used be an old horse stable!!! Can’t wait to see what else you’ve been up to! Keeping you in my prayers as I know you lost 2 dear family members recently. Hugs.

    I'm new to your channel and I agree, I was also a scrapbooker and made cards then discovered junk journalling in the Covid times. I also did slow stitching quilts with so much material. I now find that it is too overwhelming for me to sort. Thankyou for the tour and tidying.

    I LOVE craft room organization videos! I like to see how others organize items. I recently emptied some iris bins which I've repurposed for my junk journal items. My bins are very similar to your groupings (envelopes, bags/pockets, journal/tags, etc.). I appreciate you emphasizing that it's okay to denote/recycle/trash items. 💛💛💛

    The struggle is real! I miss my crafty space. Currently renting a room from my sis & & a majority of my stuff is in storage. Thought I brought enough stuff to continue crafting while here but I’m missing all my ink pads, dies i& colored card stock. Will need to whittle down what’s in storage, and had donated a ton before the move, but the thought exhausts me. My junk journal stuff seems to keep expanding every time I turn my back on it. 😂 I really liked your ideas about getting rid of things that we may have collected at the beginning but now either aren’t needed or have been replaced with “better” finds. I also smiled at your single deck of playing cards. I have a shoebox-full (more than I’ll need in a lifetime) because I keep finding ones with great designs. (And you get 52 at a time, when I really just need a few! It might be time for me to pass some along to a new home). Have a great weekend.

    Progress over perfection I say! I think it was wonderful that doing this project got you inspired for your current project - you found stuff you wanted to use right now. Using it should always be the goal in my book 😊 and you came to terms with stuff that would be better off on the bin or another crafters stash. I say this knowing that I’ve just helped a friend declutter and come home with two big bags of stuff that I have nowhere to store 😂 it got me inspired though, and I made a couple of quick art journals so there’s that.

    I think this was really helpful, Sarah. I like your categories and I find them useful. I also recently basically did what you said to at least part of my craft room - take everything out and put it back. I’m not quite done putting it all back and my husband is less than thrilled with that as the part that is not back in the craft room is in the hall. Still. I told him it does no good to just shove it back in the craft room Willy Nilly when the whole point was to go through things, make room, and organize, which takes longer than just removing and replacing. But he s running out of patience, lol.

    Hi Sarah. If it were me, taking into account that you can't pick up heavy items, I would consider putting my items in 12x12 plastic cases clearly labelled. If it doesn't fit into the case tough. Either I take things out of the case that I was maybe on the fence with and swop it with what I really like or I have to get to a point of I can't add more until I've used more of what's in the case. Just a thought. I think that's how I arrange my things because I can't handle clutter. TFS your video. Sending love and hugs. 💙🤗💙🤗

    • @CraftingandRelaxing
      @CraftingandRelaxing  2 роки тому

      Wouldn’t clearly labeled require sorting? My containers might be labeled 1 of 4 for journal pages 🤣 I’m liking this idea though so I’m thinking. Also, it would be stackable! Even in my room there is only so much flat space. 💙💙💙

    • @noreenmulder5255
      @noreenmulder5255 2 роки тому +1

      @@CraftingandRelaxing Labelling 1 to 4 is fine. It is your room so as long as you know what's in 1 to 4 that's all that matters. I like the clear cases because I can take it and put it on my desk, get out what I need and put it to the side as I craft. That side space on the left above the cupboard of shame will then be cleared so you can put you clear cases that you are working with there and pack them away once you complete your project. I think it will be great for your back as it is not heavy and Mr C&R will be super impressed 🤣. Also because it is lighter if you need to take it to the lounge to work while you watch TV it's contained to a 12x12 case. 💙🤗💙🤗

    When the Hoard is so big that it has gotten away from us it's because we are imputing more than we are outputting. And at that point our output is less and less because stuff is in the way we don't have it handy we know we have it but we can't locate it or we forgot we had it. All this and more is time consuming out of our craft time. So why do we keep on shopping for more stuff when what was our "me time relaxing hobby" has been replaced with another thing that makes us feel good. Shopping became part of the therapy. When I figured out that it was taking so much time out of my craft time to shop, process, organize, de-stash, research, shop some more online, get ready for tomorrow's estate sale, look at how others were using their items, look for ideas on something before I threw it out, etc. it was no wonder I was not getting down to crafting. So guess what I started selling ephemera myself. Well that was the wrong solution it's an excuse to keep it. Well not any more. I'm quitting the whole thing. I started watching de-stash videos to get ready to throw it all (almost all) out. I'm moving. Learn from me I got disabled and couldn't do anything about the piles for months.

    Hi there how’s your space looking? I discovered JJ 2016 and yes it grows and grows and i reorganize and reorganize. For me zones
    1. Location keep like things together and if the container is full no more collecting I don’t create enough random journals to use up all the random stuff I’ve collected
    2. Visibility I like open or clear
    3. Labeling THIS is the most important because I’ll forget why I have something grouped together and then it becomes 1 of 10 hodgepodge containers
    4. Create more 😊 use it up or give it away I’ve mailed so many RAKS yes pay postage to not throw away 😂😅😊 I also try to find other local crafters to give away to as well

The little one LOVES to steal dies off the wall and chew on paper. The bigger one mostly knocks stuff off the counters. I'm rethinking a lot of my organization. I am also questioning the QUANTITY of like items I have for JJ. I definitely don't create enough random journals to use up all the random stuff I've collected either. Sometimes I ask myself...did I really plan to make 50 of these??😂 Happy crafting! 💙💙💙

    I think sorting is a great idea. It seems like you have junk journal, art journal and collage things all mixed together. Would 12 x 12 boxes keep things neater and you van separate things better? You probably need to sort every few months because ideas change and preferences change.

      They are called “printers trays” and I found a guy selling them for $20 each, which was a deal. Then, with a chisel and small saw I chopped out sections that I didn’t want (to make spaces big enough to put stamps in). It was quite a bit of work, but I love it! Knowing what I know now I would put a small spacer (plywood?) along bottom so they are pushed out a tiny bit. Sometimes things fall off my crooked walls. 🤣 I think I have a video about the setup, I’ll look. 💙 Found it: Rubber Stamp Storage - Printer's Drawers | Printer's Trays

I'm going to feel naked going out without my bag of goodies as my husband calls it. But we don't have many years left so it's time to stop and hold hands again.😥

      I would get car sick I think!?! I get up at 5:30 and hubby likes to be in bed til 9 so I get store crazy without stuff to do. 😂 You can bring the bag of stuff, but I get it out at casino, electronics stores, early am or during sports. BRING the stuff, but use it for boring times and enjoy the journey!! 😊💙💙😂
