I store my 8inch Reflector upside down so the main mirror is facing downwards. That way any dust drops to the cap and the secondary which is way easier to clean.
Some rule of thumb when drilling hole in metal: 1. Fix your workpiece steadily in a vise or at least some clamps. If you have access to a table drill machine, the better. 2. Never drill a hole in one step right at the start with the intended diameter. Always make a much smaller diameter hole first than intended, than make it gradually bigger and bigger in 1-2 mm steps till you reach the intended diameter. 3. Oh, and use some lubricant: sewing machine oil, WD40 or similar. You won't risk your workpiece, and the hole will be in size, you don't want +0,2 mm-ish differences.
I'm a new subscriber of your channel, just today my dobsonian arrived, I'm so happy. I have a question. Could you damage the telescope if place it vertically? Or it's just you could mess the collimation?
I always use my eq platform below the dobs and it's leveled by the legs. If i place just the dob for a visual without the platform i use it as is, no need to level it.

It's one more valid way to do it
Good video! Cleaning the mirror on an SCT might be a bit harder so I’m keeping my hands out of my scope for now.
Thanks Martin!👍
Nice video, good instructions, good ideas, wonderful humour!
Thanks Bernard! 👍
Modificação essencial. Aliás, não percebo porque não vem assim de fábrica. Já vi que vou ter que fazer esse procedimento.

Isn't it dangerous te clean the primary mirror out in the sun? Could you get blind from it if it reflects all that sunlight?
No
Great video! How do you level the dobsonian base when the ground is irregular (unleveled)?
