Hi guys! First time checking you out! I literally just googled the book title because I was blown away by it and wanted to see what others thought. So, thank you for picking this book to discuss! ...ok, a couple related caveats: first, I apologize profusely for stopping your vid right here at 2:18 because of something ya'll said just now (I promise to watch the whole thing after my message but I'm super impulsive and had to say - 2nd caveat: wtf, guys??? lol You guys stated you thought the book could get by without the romance factor.... No No and so much respectfully disagreeing with you! The entire plot premise of horror is based out of the intensity and desperation of the main characters' deep, crazy love for each other! Without this a premise, the book is COMPLETELY different. Indeed on the book jacket we hear Andrew state he would - or did - rip his own heart out for Thomas.... Ok, I feel better. lol Listen, I'm gonna finish watching your video now, whiich would have probs been the fair thing to do, in any case. (Sorry!) Ok, looking forward to what you have to say. Respectfully in lit, Karen 🙂

Hi! Thanks for checking us out. Greg responding. I am puzzled by the relative lack of other reviews, especially with it getting to the finals of the Goodreads Awards. Others must be really liking it. Much of what I say about it must be considered from the source as I am an old guy who mostly reads older science fiction :) Not really my kind of book here. Emily’s choice. She does tend to follow me a bit too much in these video reviews even when she disagrees. I wish she would defy my thoughts more and fight a bit. Not that I want to fight with her, but it would be a more exciting video. Anyway, we have been reviewing too much of what I read and not enough of her choices. We've taken steps to change that a bit next year, though I still outread her about 10 to 1. So look for more books like this one. I'm glad to see that you see the romance as being more important. I just didn't see it. I think I was expecting more of that aspect since the marketing made a point of it. And I have a friend that has me reading everything by Sarah Maas so I'm used to a lot of smut by now :) But that doesn't really matter to me. I don't read books for the romance. I agree that the story here is really about that overly co-dependent relationship, but for most of the book I hoped it would be about monsters coming out of the woods. Did you finish? Do you have more to say? I do love it when people talk about these reviews, especially if they see things different from me.
