Montreal Metro: late night Green Line ride between Place-des-Arts and Lionel-Groulx metro stations 🚇

Here's another ride on the Montreal Metro, this time on the Green Line 🟢 between Place-des-Arts and Lionel-Groulx metro stations through the downtown core.
This video was filmed on Sunday, August 18, 2024 starting at approximately 1:18 am Eastern Canadian Time aboard AZUR metro train Set 40.
This was the second to last train on the Green Line going west towards the Angrignon direction.

Any insights into what purpose is served by the side tunnel at 3:27 of the video? I've never noticed that before between Peel and Guy-Concordia.
