yeah, morover in 1:27 you can see how good is at "closing doors" to the others. And Idk if you've seen him in F1 but he's the king in saving tires, fuel... so i think he has very good options here.

Will Mac Yes. I found it quite similar to Carlos Munoz over the last 2 years.

0:43 - The commentator points out that Alonso is always going below the white line, on the left hand side.
Well of course he is! He's an F1 driver, his job is to hit apexes! It's been his job for 16 years!

Whole different kinda racing than F1. Indy (in terms of its oval locations, yes IRL has Ovals Circuits and street courses) is all about driving flat out top speed relying on drafting to pass. interesting enough, unlike F1, tons of passing happens on oval tracks because to be first, often means being slower than the rest of the pack. So oval strategy is knowing when to be first. Planning out when and where to pass, and dealing with tires that work against your ability to maintain position. Currently in F1, the technology has risen so high that the race is often over in the first turn, a driver with enough skill can maintain his position increasing his margin to the next driver because non of the tracks have long enough straight that would allow one car to pass another via drafting. In the past it was possible because the cars were actually faster in the straights but far slower in turns. Today, F1 employs a cheat, DRS zones, which enables trailing drivers periodically less drag to gain speed enabling passing in the straights, but overall, its not something that happens often with the leading cars. Tires are equally important, And F1's 1 or 2 pitstop strategy is the only additional means to delay a leading driver. These conditions in F1 has ultimately hurt the sport, though it was intended to give teams with less financial resources a competitive edge over the larger well funded teams. Its failed miserably, as now a single driver and team often dominates several seasons of f1 back to back. Indy racing and its cars could be view as half F1, half Nascar. Unlike F1 which races are a quick sprint of 50+ laps, Indy is more like nascar with races covering 100 laps or more. Making it an endurance sport, but also Indy races street courses and circuits like F1, and of course Ovals, which means unlike F1 the drivers must deal with cars who's setup is entirely different from race to race. Like jumping in one motor sport to another several times through the season. Its actually the same for Nascar *winston cup* series, which although run mostly on ovals does have a few locations on racing circuits. At first glance IRL would seem low tech in comparison to F1, and its partly true. only recently has IRL adopted some of F1's aero technology to its cars. In fact the past Champ-car series was very much like F1 with its screaming engines. but the series didnt last, being absolved into IRL along with the series drivers. IRL recent fatal crashes has forced the series to remove its antiquated vision of the sport to something far more modern though it still pales in many ways to F1 for good reason, to avoid the pitfalls that F1 has faced due to the increasing tech. A ceiling that F1 stuarts are struggling to solve to improve the sport. Todays F1 cars are too capable, to perfect. the drivers seldom face any driving limits. As such, the first car to lead a given race is often the winner. F1 needs cars that arent as good. an element of danger than creates a line to be crossed by the drivers. Drivers with Fear to overcome will make the sport far more diverse with winners. or like IRL which homaganalized the carz that its truley the drivers and often dumb luck that determines a win. In IRL just about any driver can win. though the top teams do benefit from financial and technical advantages. F1 needs to either go backwards or relinquish many of its rules enabling the tech to go to a whole new level to improve the sport, but the question with F1 is safety.

F1 takes skill, this takes 20 % of what he can do, of course he's immediately that fast.
