4:31 Apparently no one notified Ron Howard that Disney had released a bunch of PG-rated films prior to “Splash”: *”The Black Hole” (the first Disney film to be rated PG), “Midnight Madness”, “The Watcher in the Woods”, “Popeye”, “The Devil and Max Devlin”, “Dragonslayer”, “Condorman”, “Night Crossing”, “Tron”, “Tex”, “Trenchcoat”, “Something Wicked This Way Comes”, and “Never Cry Wolf”.* Unfortunately, most of those films either underperformed or bombed at the box office due to the dissonance of the PG rating and the DISNEY name attached to it, which one associates with being family-friendly and G-RATED. As a result, Ron Miller (who was the CEO of the Walt Disney Company at the time) decided to create a second alternative label called “Touchstone Films” (later renamed “Touchstone Pictures”), so the studio could get away with releasing films that weren’t rated G. “Touchstone” was a great way for Disney to remain commercially relevant without sullying their wholesome, family-friendly brand. To quote Ron Miller, *”The strength of the Disney association with fine family entertainment can have a pronounced adverse effect on our ability to broaden our marketing and production horizons. I believe that some very fine Disney films in recent years, with more adult themes, have faltered at the box office because of it. For example, films like ‘Night Crossing,’ ‘Tex’ and ‘Tron’. Also, as I have said previously, ‘Touchstone’ will allow us to maintain the inherent strength of the Disney tradition without tampering with the legacy.”* Source: www.mouseplanet.com/8170/Ron_Miller_and_Touchstone
I'm waiting for him to start saying "now the story of a wealthy family who lost everything and the one son who had no choice but to keep them all together."
They included talking about "Lassie", which he was in only one episode of, but skipped both "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Happy Days" where he was a main character?!
I would’ve liked to hear about his experiences making some of his lesser-known movies, like Gung Ho and Night Shift. Or maybe hear about his experience as an actor working with John Wayne in his last film, The Shootist. Still an Interesting interview, though.
why tf does this only have 13k views im so fucking confused. such a shame because they arent gunna make any more "imdb me"s if it has such abysmal view counts. suuuuuuch a fucking shame
Solo sure didn’t get the warm reception he hoped for. That’s what you get when you cast an actor to star in the role and he’s 5” shorter then Harrison Ford.
we need more of this in 2019 with older actors and directors, longer video too.
Wish this video was even longer! Ron forgot to mention so many other movies and tv shows he was a part of!
Great director. His Masterclass is exceptional with specific, actionable processes and tips.
This was much better than I thought it would be🎉🎉🎉 Kudos I learned even more about the great director Ron Howard on a funny interview 😅

Hard to believe he's close to 70. Still has youthful features and energy.
Well he survived the business. Good for him. 📺🎬📽️🎞️
ron is my permanent mood holy crap
I'm waiting for him to start saying "now the story of a wealthy family who lost everything and the one son who had no choice but to keep them all together."
No mention of Cocoon, Ransom, Cinderella Man, A Beautiful Mind, Rush, In the Heart of the Sea?
Dance Opie dance ! LMAO I could totally see Harrison doing that !!
Why no talk about “Night Shift” his first studio movie as a director?
Why wouldn’t you ask about The Shootist? That was John Wayne’s last movie and it would have been great to hear him talk about it.
“And we were their first PG movie!”
*Disney’s “The Black Hole” entered the chat* 😂 😂
It would definitely be a pleasure to meet Ron Howard and star in a movie (with him directing of course) a dream come true
They included talking about "Lassie", which he was in only one episode of, but skipped both "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Happy Days" where he was a main character?!
Nothing for beautiful mind? He won his Oscar for that!
Please tell me you’re going to make more of these!!!!?

Why does Ron Howard sound so much like Owen Wilson?
OMG, he does!
*in Owen Wilson voice* Wow!
This is so awesome 👍
Must be cashed out on Happy Days LOL
"I couldn't get any studio to say yes. Finally , Disney said yes... That terrified me"
Of course he was, it's like signing with the devil.
The Thundercool lol now a days it is back than not so much.
wtf! Skipping Night shift is an insult.
That's a classic
They skipped over the Shootist, his movie with John Wayne. WHY?
did anyone else notice how he complimented George, J.J., even rogue one (Gareth Edwards) but didnt mention, THE LAST JEDI (Rian Johnson) hahahahahaha
I was thinking the same while watching it as well
No mention of Backdraft?
2 people disliked this video.. what's wrong with them?
Loved it myself... he's a great guy!
They're just jealous he was hugged by Chewbacca and they didn't.
Courtship of Eddies Father
interesting experiment, you said it ron.
Opie did good for himself!
I was hoping he would mention the grinch lmao
No mention of The Last Jedi Haha
why tf does this only have 13k views im so fucking confused. such a shame because they arent gunna make any more "imdb me"s if it has such abysmal view counts. suuuuuuch a fucking shame
Really?!! You’re skipping Cocoon???!
How.The.Fuck. Do you not mention The Andy Griffith Show?!
Rip solo
You didn't even mention Andy Griffith? That's like interviewing Paul McCartney & not mentioning the Beatles.
Solo sure didn’t get the warm reception he hoped for. That’s what you get when you cast an actor to star in the role and he’s 5” shorter then Harrison Ford.
Spikes Gang?
Opie 😪
The editing is a disaster.
