I have seen PMJ 4 times. They sound just like this. They record the video and songs at the same time. Usually in one take.

What I love about Haley is she just seems to BECOME her music, it's totally insane! One of the best. "Don't Speak" is awesome!!
great reaction nick. haley reinhart really is jessica rabbit here... it's crazy how she completely embodies the music and new orleans "dirge" vintage time period so well in this sort of symbiotic relationship that is so authentic and rare. the band and arrangement are excellent but she really brings it to life. in addition to her usual unique stunning vocals, she even becomes another instrument towards the end with the relentless scatting. when i briefly met her last spring, i was surprised how petite and soft spoken she is in person with how big a presence she puts on stage... truly amazing 😎
See them live, I shit you not its one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Its like going back in time, swing dancing, gin, and the music sounds just like it does here. Tap dancers, comedy, its a blast. They are touring again in 2024.

PMJ and Scott Bradlee are the modern masters of taking rock and roll songs and turning them into something your grandparents would love, and the kids really need to hear. They remind this upper-middle aged gent of the old masters, Lawrence Welk and Arthur Fiedler. Great review of the techniques used to make this a magical performance.

If you loved this - go to her (and Post Modern Jukebox) version of “Oops I Did it Again” - I guarantee it’s NOT what you would expect with this “pop”song! Her take is …. beyond …. I’d advise having some ice water on hand and a cigarette or 2! Wow!

PMJ brought us Haley, Morgan James and many more wonderful vocalists.......Scott Bradlee, the pianist, does the arrangements ( this one's straight outta' Bourbon Street ) and the band is top notch ! Love the muted horns .......now, about that dress........
Simply stunning
While it isn't in front of an audience, Scott does take pride in doing these videos as close to live as he can by doing it with one camera in one take. I've seen this lineup with Haley in 2015 in NOLA doing this song, along with Creep and All About the Bass and it was a sublime concert.

PMJ, especially with such a strong and varied stable of artists to call on, has absolutely mastered the ability to produce cover songs that are as good as or better than the originals, and yet don't replace the original. I'll still listen to White Stripes do this song, and I'll listen to this version, and get something great out of each one.
If you haven't listened to House of the rising sun when she was on American Idol do. I fell in love with her music then.
