He had a very distinguished voice.
No presenter has ever come close to Alan Wicker. I grew up with his documentaries.
I can only echo previous commentators, the man, the music & all those journey`s broadened my horizons, especially as I was never going to be able to do it myself.
R.I.P. Alan, you were one of a kind & a leader in this sort of journalism.
The theme tune alone was enough to watch. Genius.

I watched this as part of a bit of a UA-cam Nostalgia trip with a bottle of wine. The music is still great but the brief opening sequence reminded me what a superb narrator Alan Whicker was. He took us to places we could only dream of at the time. The world has changed since, but it's still great viewing.
As a young boy, the highlight of my tv week was whickers World, and I knew one day I would follow in his footsteps, which I have been very fortunate to do. Alan Whicker, the first and still the best.

I loved Alan Wicker, he looked like he should have been a secret agent in Tinker, Taylor, Soldier Spy.
