Glad you like the train room! We live in an old stone farmhouse in the south of France. The layout is in one of outhouses - also constructed in stone. It was quite a lot of work to make it dry and habitable. But now it's a nice railway room.
Julian, this is wonderful. So happy to see people using Microcontrollers in the hobby - they confer so many possibilities and the surface has barely yet been scratched. I think probably it would be possible to achive the same now with a system like that and the JMRI suite?
it just goes to show how well these old locos can run with the right tinkering and equipment . a job well done . I like the room as well . is it an old wine celler / pantry .
Thank you. Yes, those Hornby Dublo locos from the 50s were brilliantly designed and made, and they do keep going. Spare parts are still available. The 'shed' is an old outhouse of our farmhouse in the south of France. It was probably a chicken house or fodder store.
nice place to run your trains ,the irony is that these days you can get spares easier for those dublo locos than you can for modern Hornby lol , its ridiculous.
Hi Phil, yes it works with any scale/gauge. But you need decoders which work with the Lenz ABC system, such as Lenz and Zimo. I wrote an article describing the system in the MERG Journal September 2016 - you just need to join MERG - which is very worthwhile anyway.
Most outstanding staging room ever!!!! Love the brickwork!! Very cool.
I like the stone in the train room that is cool ...

I agree looks fantastic .
Very Impressed Julian

Alan: glad you liked it. The problem for me with JMRI is the complexity. That's why I do my own designs!. Julian
Between us, I think we nailed it. And it's only taken 60 years!

Very impressive!
Great cheers Robert
Chuffed to have seen it in person........
Brilliant!
very nice
What a lovely Hornby 3 rail you have, it's the first time I've seen this system using using DCC, did you convert all the motors in the loco's?
Yes, I converted all the locos to DCC. I've converted every type of Hornby Dublo loco to DCC, and they work brilliantly.
Hi a really interesting system, I noticed you are running a three rail system will this work on n scale two rail?
