30yrs old and was just laid off from a finance job right before Thanksgiving I took back when I was 21. Dreaded going in everyday as I'm not the type who likes sitting behind a desk but it paid the bills and I fell for the carrot they dangled in front of me even though it always got yanked away at the last second. Been spending the last week applying for pluming apprenticeships and just found your channel. Absolutely love your energy and got my sub. Most of my friends think I'm crazy not going back and finding some boring bank job but I'm really looking forward to "starting over" as I've been calling it.
Me too I’m 26 lost my bookkeeping job of 4 years. But I want to use my energy and become a skilled tradesmen. I just applied as a carpenter helper but I want to find my way into plumbing. I’d love to do the plumbing for my future family’s home.
Roger I really enjoy your videos. Thinking of doing a career change. After doing personal training for so many years Thinking of transitioning to plumbing...my only concern wonder if I'd get looked at as being too old since I'm 36. Thoughts?
There are many great plumbing schools in the US - I can't recommend one specifically because I don't know where you plan on living, but would recommend doing some research on the type of schooling you'd like.
Roger, idk if youll see this, or if youre able to answer. Im in an area where you need to work to be an apprentice, but need licensure to work. Im not sure on the quality of the union in my area, its expensive, but its more straightforward to me than how the trade schools work and would get me started and licensed hopefully. Do you recommend i use the union? Should i buy tools and study math before i start? Im already trying to study appliances, at least the basics

Good for you! That takes guts to change your day to day life, you’re going to love it! Please keep me posted on your journey
Man I’m in the same boat at 33. Glad I’m not alone!

Great video as always Roger!
Glad you enjoyed it brother!
4:55 Yes! THIS!!!
This is why I want to go into business. I'm seeing way too much shady plumbing.
I have a Rinnai tankless water heater. Am I able to hook a hose up to the cold drain valve to fill a cold plunge tub?
Do you have another video like this but for apprentices? Im about 4-5 months into mine
Roger, how much bullying goes on with apprentices in the plumbing industry? And is that a good thing or necessarily a bad thing?

Makes sure you're good at fractions. It helps a lot.
Go union ask about those questions at the interview. Learn what fittings are called and sizes
I find alot of guys will stay far away from guys with knowhow and talent! They never want to give up the ghost!
Most older men are gatekeepers
You thought this was gatekeeping?
