I was a machine repairman and know the difference between 0.2500 and 0.296. That is .046 difference. It is close to being .062 witch is a 1/16 of an inch. I had to watch the whole video to really see if this guy didn't know what he was talking about. Yea, he had it wrong. When you add four pencils together you have almost a quarter of an inch (not quite) of difference. I would not accept this at all in any of my projects. For rough carpentry it would work.
I can picture all the VCG Construction employees taking pencil sharpening breaks probably in a circle sitting Indian style 1hr in the morning 1hr before lunch 2 hrs after lunch then repeat. 😂😂🤣🤣 . I love the video 👍👌🤘
Good vid Vince. Additionally, the width of the carpenters pencil is 1/2 inch and I keep both ends of my pencils sharpened. One end to a fine point, the other to a thicker width for larger stock that I'm cutting. Another thing, I keep my carpenters pencil tucked under my hat in front of my ear, not above it and it's always there when I need it. Try that with a standard #2 pencil and it's dang uncomfortable, lol. Cheers!
Hey vince i bought a 1 dollar badge retractor and hooked it on my pencil sharpener so it never gets lost its always hooked on my belt along with my pencil
I bought the Swanson stay sharp after your recommendation and I like it much better than wooden pencils. I have heard the Pica is the best construction pencil in the market but it is 10 times as much.
Hey buddy.... i sharpen my pencils on a grinder or belt sander.... it just comes perfact...point tip.. flat tip... bevel tip..all you want.... go ahead try... cheers.

the pencil sharpener has a loop at one end so you can add it to a keychain and then add the key chain to a carabiner and then caravan it off of your rolling Milwaukee bag,. See what I did there, I gave you the mucho grande tip.
I'm just here to read all these comments about how Vince can't read measurements. These people either didn't get the "point" or didn't "widdle" their way to the end of the video. You're a beast Vince 💪

In drywall they always hold the pencil WITH the tab of the tape measure while making lengthy marks. Being that the pencil is EXACTLY 1/4 one would have to plus or minus that quarter inch, depending on which side of the tape measure tab they would hold the pencil. Oh wait...... it's drywall!!! Actually they set the tape and pencil on the mark, regardless of where they hold it from. A good hanger will always be on point, and could go from 0 to 3 inches angle cut on the money. Maybe not today but back when people took pride in their work.

Yes, but the lines it leaves on the blade are annoying. Box cutters use replaceable blades, so people don't need to stress over their blade being ugly.
