Wow ... I am really impressed by the tone of the bagpipes of Felice's 5 palms. Especially the bass or missing or what you call it - unlike many low bagpipes, this detail has a lot of projection and is simply the best missing or low I've ever heard. (Except obviously the sopranina or the whistle or the scanduliglia is always too overbearing). So, does anyone know who built Felice's bagpipe? Or did he build it himself? If I could ever get a keyhole bag of 6 palms as impressive as this, I'd love to. Wow... I'm really really impressed with the tone of Felice's zampogna a chiave di 5 palmi. Especially the basso or manca or whatever you call it - unlike many zampogne basse, this particular one has a lot of projection and it is simply the best manca or basso I've ever heard. (Except of course the sopranina or fischietto or scandriglia is always too overpowering). So, does anyone know who built Felice's zampogna? Or did he build it himself? If I can ever get a zampogna a chiave di 6 palmi as tonally impressive as this one, I would love that.
Thanks a lot for your post. Leonardo Rago is the zampogna maker but unfortunately he died two years ago. For any other information please call me here on 3397138309.
I'm aware of poor Leonardo's passing two years ago. But isn't G. Palermo basically his apprentice or at least doesn't he make zampogne of a similar internal dimensions and proportions to each other (diameters, bell curves, etc)? I've heard a 6-palmi by Palermo on the CD "La Zampogna Lucana", and that particular zampogna has the most impressive basso / manca EVER! And the artist on that one said Giovanni Palermo, so I'm assuming if Palermo made that particular zampogna on that other recording (not this exact video), perhaps Palermo's zampogne would sound similar?

I am interested in licensing a short clip of this video for an exhibition. May I reach out to you via email about this?
