even before in 1987 it was called Hotel Nipa Lodge then around 1992 Hotel Nova Lodge. I still go every year before the pendemia thank you for watching. you can see my other videos still on thailand
What does it say about today's society and and humans in general, when you see videos like this of places decades ago that were so nice, and now so seedy and materialistic? Thanks for posting the video. Great to see Pattaya as it used to be.
yeah. city no more character. Too many malls. Too much traffic. Gosh what a great getaway it was. Still I am kind of glad I did not punch out and retire too soon. I would be struggling and probably broke in my old age. Now am very well off and can go as much or as often as I like and the prices are not important. Of course with COVID mess I can not fly into the country. And the rules and visas and insurance and monthly transfers are a real pain. But taking a page from buddhism thought, lessen my desire and all will be ok
I started going there in late 1988 . Same as your video. I think that was pattaya at the best. The poppy bar is still there but not too many survivors of bars from that era. The bar girl were much prettier back then . Most of them are old and fat in pattaya now.
Hammer and the nail I agree totally started going 1986 very pretty girls nice and a good laught now they are fat and grumpy and it’s just money now not same as the good old days

My ship USS Ranger pulled in there back in November 1987 after being in the Gulf of Oman for 4 months. I was 20 years old, loved that place, met a girl that begged me to take her with me lol. I wonder from time to time what happened to her. She'd be 52 this year. Vasana "Apple" Larnsuntus.
You saw it in the best years mate, as mass tourism has rendered Thailand very cold and mercenary now. I too met a real sweetheart back then by the name of Waew. She wold have made a fantastic wife, but I was too young and immature. Often wondered what happened to her, and hope she met a nice bloke and not one of the dysfunctional alcoholics!. If you are really interested in tracking her down and know her home town there are online agencies who can search id card records for you - but at a cost of course!
